An insider told the magazine that Depp has “moved on” from the trial that dominated headlines for most of the past month. On June 1, a seven-person jury sided with Depp and awarded him $15 million dollars: $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Those five million dollars were later reduced to $350,000 dollars – the maximum amount allowed under Virginia state law.

The jury found that Heard had committed defamation in her 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she declared herself as a survivor of domestic violence. However, Heard was also awarded $2 million dollars after one of Depp’s attorneys labeled her abuse accusations “a hoax.” The jury found that defamation had occurred in one of his statements, but the trial was seen as an overwhelming success for Depp, especially in the court of public opinion.

A source told the publication that “the trial was necessary but he is happy that it’s over,” adding that, “Although he is relieved about the jury’s verdict, he isn’t gloating about it.”

“He isn't even talking about the trial now,” the insider divulged. “He filed the lawsuit, because he considered it necessary. He has moved on though. He is now able to get back to what he loves doing. He enjoys performing and has a busy summer ahead. He is also looking forward to continue working. He just wants his career back. He loves filming.”

Brooks is suing for an undisclosed amount of damages related to ten counts of “assault, emotional distress, wrongful termination, and retaliation.” According to Brooks’ lawyers, “On the Monday following the incident, April 16, 2017, plaintiff returned to the production office to work on wrapping out the show. Upon arrival, the plaintiff was informed that Segal wanted him to write and sign a declaration stating that he would not sue the production. When the plaintiff declined to write such a statement, his services were terminated immediately.”
