Media outlets snapped her pinching pennies by shopping for bargain clothes at TJ Maxx in the Hamptons, ostensibly to show her broke status, although Instagram does not seem to buy it. The “Aquaman” star was already on the edge even before the jury ruled against her, and now she’s allegedly broke, as per various media reports.
Here’s Heard scoring off some bargains, proving she’s never one to pass on a discount.
Amber Heard Sticks To Her Story Despite Jury Ruling
After the much-publicized trial that concluded in a verdict on June 1, a seven-person jury decided that the op-ed by Heard, which did not name Depp but spoke of her being a victim of abuse, had in fact defamed Johnny Depp. Through the trial, Depp maintained that he never assaulted Heard and in fact, it was she who physically harmed him on multiple occasions.
The jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages but since a Virginia law limits the ceiling of punitive damages, Heard will only need to shell out $8.4 million. She also won a countersuit and was, in turn, awarded $2 million in damages.
But forget the amount she had to pay to Depp, Heard’s lawyers claim she cannot even cover the hefty legal fees. It is said that Heard is relying on the homeowner’s insurance policy to cover the cost of her current attorneys in the case. When Heard’s attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, was asked by NBC’s “Today” as to whether she could pay Depp the requisite amount, the answer was an unequivocal, “Oh, no, absolutely not.”
The high-profile legal battle seems to have left the 36-year-old hurting for cash, although many sources claim her lavish spending, clothes, wine choices, and more are also to blame.
This is her statement after she lost the case.

Heard also recently appeared on NBC’s “Dateline” in a talk with Savannah Guthrie where she stuck to her story of abuse, and also said that she was terrified of being sued again. She also planned to appeal the amount awarded to Depp by the jury and reiterated that every word of her story was true.
Bargain Shopping Could Be The Need Of The Day
A sneaky shopper leaked pictures of Amber Heard, dressed in blue jeans and an oversized white shirt, looking at clothes at the TJ Maxx in Bridgehampton, NY. Her sister, Whitney Henriquez, was with her. Henriquez also testified on Heard’s behalf during the trial and has supported her sister throughout.
That said; we are not sure if Heard bought anything from TJ Maxx.
Given Heard has not been getting the plum roles ever since Depp vs. Heard blew up in her face, it’s easy to see why she may be pinched for cash. According to the courts, she was paid only $1 million for 2018’s “Aquaman” and another $2 million for the sequel, where her role has been slashed significantly.
There was also talk of Depp getting her the role in the first movie, something Heard vociferously denies. She also never donated the $7 million she got from Depp as a divorce settlement, something she talked big about.
Instagram users are not quite sure they believe in this new “stunt”, given that she was just spotted using a private jet for “work meetings.”
While they did not mince their words about what they thought of Depp’s ex-wife, many rose up to defend TJ Maxx.
“Y’all go to Tj Maxxtoo , they got some fye stuff.”
“Mannnnnn I like TJ Maxx 😂”
“Nothing wrong with shopping at TJ Maxx.”
“Ok but let’s leave TJ Maxx out of this.”
Instagram Feels Amber Heard Staged This
Heard’s latest shopping adventure is cutting no dice with Instagram, who feel the pics were “Staged” by both the actress, and the media outlet.
Comments from Instagram users pointed to the same, and many felt she was trying a little too hard.
“Ah. The #ErikaJane “look at me struggle, dont sue me” tactic. 😉”
“And did she call someone to take these photos per usual? Since we know she likes doing that.”
“She called em there! Who’s waiting for her at Tj max? byeeeee lol”
“She tryna make the court feel bad for her”
Others went off on another tangent altogether, thinking that she looked like she was about to steal something.
There was a rather detailed comment in there too:
“As a former retail worker, I just want to point some things out about Amber and her sister in this video. Amber is dressed in clothing way too big for her coupled with the way her sister was using only the seat of the cart for the large number of items she was going to “buy” are both CLASSIC SHOPLIFTING techniques.”
