Tom Brady Doubts His Kids Will Follow In His Or Gisele's Footsteps

Since their marriage in 2009, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have been together for nearly a decade. Their union bore two kids a son named Benjamin Rein, born in December 2009, and a daughter named Vivian Lake, born in December 2012.

Given that Brady has had a great career as a football player and his wife has been among the best-paid models in the world over the past several years, it is evident that the couple's children will have some huge shoes to fill when they start figuring out their professions.

However, Brady isn't keen on the kids following in his and Bündchen's footsteps, stating lately that it might be difficult for them to do so and that he would like them to pursue their own ambitions.

Earlier this week, the NFL star spoke with US Weekly about the professional choices his children could desire to pursue when they grow up. While many people who are familiar with Brady and his wife may wish for their children to pursue successful careers similar to their parents', the football icon has a different take on the concept.

"I want 'em to obviously define something they love to do, but it would be really hard to follow in my football footsteps for sure, or my wife's footsteps," the footballer told the news publication. "I want them to find something where they can go into it without these exceedingly high expectations for themselves before these kids have had an opportunity to make mistakes."

Brady's views on his children's career choices appear to extend beyond the two children he has with Bündchen, Rein, and Lake, to his 14-year-old son Jack, from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Brady went on to explain why he believes his children should pursue their own career choices later in the conversation. Making the finest career selections, he believes, should be based on doing what one enjoys because only then would one strive hard to be the best.

"I want my kids to find something that they can really love that they'll work hard at," he explained to Us, adding that a little more "discipline" could potentially "bring out the best in them."

Ultimately, the quarterback wants kids to be spared from perpetual scrutiny, which he acknowledges is now a challenge for them these days. Additionally, he opined that when children are allowed to choose their own paths, making mistakes would be avoided.

The career paths for Brady's children are still unfolding, given that the oldest, Jack, is barely midway through teenhood. For now, the NFL star is enjoying his moments with kids as time slowly races them to adulthood.

"Kids are the best thing in the world," he said. "They just bring so much perspective into our lives and they're so much fun. They're the party. And at the same time, it's a lot of energy! You better make sure you have it for 'em and just try to do the best you can."

"I remember when they were infants, and to see 'em now and how they communicate to others... they sort of make me so proud!" Brady added before pointing out that he is amazed by how much they've matured.

On the field, Brady depends on his abilities, which have helped him earn a spot among the top quarterbacks in history. He is aware, though, of the role his family plays in encouraging him to pursue his passion and expressed his gratitude for their off-field support.

"I'm very lucky to have the off-field support that just loves you unconditionally and wants you to go out there and do what you love to do," he told Us Weekly. "There is when you win and there is when you lose, and they love you either way."

Now 44 years, the renowned quarterback may be retiring from professional football soon, and while he wants his children to select their own careers, he may have discovered a successor in his son, Jack, who he once stated "loves" sports.
