Actress Amber Heard might have received acclaim for her performance in “Aquaman” but it appears that her performance in her defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp didn’t translate to the jurors.
Depp’s attorneys released a statement during the trial saying that the “Zombieland” actress gave the performance of her life while on the stand, but one juror told Good Morning America in a newly released clip that she just “didn’t come across as believable.”
Juror Claims That Amber Heard 'Didn't Seem Natural' While Testifying

One male member of the seven-person jury that ultimately sided with Johnny Depp in the highly publicized defamation trial claimed that Heard "didn't come across as believable" when she was testifying.
The juror said that it "seemed like she was able to flip the switch on her emotions," noting that Heard "would answer one question and she would be crying and two seconds later she would turn ice cold."
They concluded, "It didn’t seem natural.”
His statements are the first that have been made by the jury, which consisted of two women and five men. The jury found that Heard had committed defamation in her 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she declared herself a survivor of domestic violence, despite the fact that she did not mention Depp by name in the article.
A jury awarded the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor $15 million dollars: $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The $5 million dollars was later reduced to $350,000 dollars, the maximum allowed under Virginia state law.
Juror Says Amber Heard Didn't Have Enough Evidence To Support Her Claims
During the interview, the juror noted that Depp and Heard “had their husband-wife arguments. They were both yelling at each other.”
The juror continued, “I don’t think that makes either of them right or wrong. That’s what you do when you get into an argument, I guess. But to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there wasn’t enough or any evidence that really supported what she was saying.”
Heard had claimed that she was physically, emotionally, sexually, and psychologically abused by her ex-husband throughout their marriage. At one point, the trial took a disturbing turn when Heard alleged that Depp had penetrated her with a bottle that might have been broken during a chaotic fight in Australia in 2015. However, Depp's attorney Camille Vasquez pointed out that Heard had no medical documents to back up her claims.
During the GMA interview, the male juror also questioned the authenticity of the photographs that showed Heard with bruises on her face. In May 2016, two LAPD officers were called to the couple's L.A. penthouse after a fight but they did not file a police report or take any photographs. Both officers testified that they did not take any photos because they did not see any bruises on Heard's face. A few days later, Heard filed for a restraining order.
The juror seemed to believe that some manipulation had occurred in the photos Amber Heard entered into evidence, saying, “Those were two different pictures. We couldn’t really tell which picture was real and which one was not.”
Jurors were also skeptical of Heard's claim that she donated all of her $7 million divorce settlement to charity. In an interview that aired before the trial, Heard said that she donated the money; however, Depp's legal team pointed out that the funds had not been donated. Heard later clarified that she pledged to donate the money over a period of time, but had not yet done so.
During her testimony, Heard told the jury that a pledge and a donation are “synonymous with one another” and “mean the same thing.” However, it seems the jury disagreed.
“The fact is, she didn’t give much of it away at all,” he said, adding that her claims were “disingenuous.”
Juror Claims That They Did Not Look At Social Media... And He Doesn't Even Have Twitter!
Although Amber Heard's legal team said that Depp's star power might have dazzled the jury, the juror insisted that “none of us were really fans of either one of them.”
Heard's legal team also suggested that the role of social media might have influenced the jury, saying that it was almost impossible to avoid the #JusticefofJohnnyDepp hashtag that was trending throughout most of the trial.
Even though clips of the trial were shared widely through all social media platforms, the juror maintained that he didn't even have a Twitter account, and most of the other members of the jury didn't either.
The juror insisted, “Social media did not impact us. We followed the evidence. We didn’t take into account anything outside [the courtroom]. We only looked at the evidence… There were very serious accusations and a lot of money involved. So we weren’t taking it lightly.”
Amber Heard's legal team has stated that they plan to file an appeal.
