Netflix Won The Rights To ‘The Pop-Tart Story’ After Hot Bidding War
Last year, Netflix won the rights to the film after a tight bidding race. It helped that Seinfeld has a close relationship with co-CEO Ted Sarandos. In 2017, Seinfeld and signed a deal with Netflix that was reportedly worth about $100 million dollars. The deal included his popular celebrity series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” as well as his stand-up comedy specials, such as “Jerry Before Seinfeld” and “23 Hours to Kill.”
Last year, Netflix also acquired the rights to “Seinfeld” and will be able to stream episodes of the classic sitcom for five years.
Seinfeld and Spike Feresten wrote the upcoming Netflix comedy with Andy Robin and Barry Marder. Seinfeld, Feresten, and Beau Bauman will all produce the film, with Cherylanne Martin, Andy Robin and Barry Marder serving as executive producers.
