Many fans have always looked up to Dwayne Johnson as a superhero, but now he’s about to become one.
On Wednesday, June 8, The Rock made good on his word and released the trailer for the upcoming DC superhero movie, “Black Adam.” The trailer gives fans a first look at Dwayne Johnson as the titular superhero.

On Wednesday, the “Red Notice” actor gave fans a first look at Black Adam in the trailer, which can be seen in the tweet above.
“As promised, our world premiere @BlackAdamMovie trailer,” Johnson tweeted to his fans. “This passion project has become my DNA and the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change.”
“The world needed a hero,” he added. “It got BLACK ADAM⚡️.”

Although the trailer seems like a finished project, the “Jungle Cruise” actor revealed that he hadn’t actually finished filming until Tuesday, June 7, one day before the trailer was released.

What Do Fans Think Of Dwayne Johnson As Black Adam?
Fan reaction to the first “Black Adam” trailer seemed mostly positive.
“Okay, when I heard The Rock was going to be Black Adam, I was really worried he would be cracking jokes the whole time and it would completely b——ize who Black Adam is supposed to be,” one fan wrote. “I thought it would be indistinguishable from Shazam.”

“But based on this trailer, it feels like they are absolutely being respectful to Black Adam’s personality and source material, and the ‘comedy’ sounds like it might be coming from the other characters moreso,” they continued. “I’m so so so excited if this continues to be the case. Please don’t be just another Shazam. Black Adam is meant to be a darker character and not a funny one.”

“To me The Rock is perfectly cast as Black Adam. Perfectly suited for the character and DC if they truly want to save the DCEU, no other perfect person to do that than Dwayne The Rock Johnson,” another fan commented. “I definitely can’t wait until this comes out.”

Other fans loved to hear the music of Kanye West playing in the trailer. The trailer had some great timing because Wednesday, June 8, 2022, also happens to be the Yeezy founder’s 45th birthday!
DC’s “Black Adam” will hit theaters on October 21, 2022.
