Adam Sandler is sporting a new look and it wasn’t intentional!
The 55-year-old comedian, who rose to prominence for his “Saturday Night Live” gigs before taking over Hollywood, recently unveiled a nasty black eye.
While appearing on “Good Morning America” to promote his latest Netflix project “Hustle,” the Brooklyn native opened up about the hilarious way he got the noticeable shiner on his left eye.
Adam Sandler Explains How Phone Mishap Gave Him A Black Eye On Live TV
On Monday, June 6, a snippet from the “Murder Mystery” star’s appearance on a live broadcast of “GMA” was shared on the news outlet’s Twitter page.
In the clip, the entertainer sparked concern from the show’s anchors, who wanted to know what happened to the “Grown Ups” actor’s left eye.
Pointing to the bruise, the Brooklyn native jokingly stated that this was something he had to discuss before launching into the story of how he got the shiner. Spoiler Alert! It had nothing to do with a fight.
The incident occurred in the middle of the night while the MTV Movie Award winner was in bed underneath tightly tucked in bedsheets.
Trying to get his phone, located in the middle of the bed, the “Just Go With It” star kicked his feet up to untuck the bedsheets, which sent his phone flying and unfortunately hitting the comedian’s head.
Although the collision sent a wave of pain down the Hollywood sensation’s body, Sandler confessed that he did not react to the injury. The former “SNL” star said:
“I refused to acknowledge it. I felt blood. I said, ‘There’s something going on, but I gotta sleep.’ Kept sleeping and woke up, and then….”
Ouch! Adam Sandler accidentally injured himself with a phone and some tucked-in bedsheets. 😳 https://t.co/kWY5S6eOU4 pic.twitter.com/cr3M8iwHbJ

Following the Teen Choice Award winner’s recollection, one of the program’s hosts, George Stephanopoulos, claimed that the actor had the “most elaborate black-eye story” he had ever heard.
In response, the “Happy Gilmore” star admitted that there was nothing “cool” about his injury, earning laughs from the other co-hosts.
The Brooklyn native continued that his shiner only appeared cool, especially while walking down the streets of New York and having people mistake the bed accident for a fighting bruise.
Aside from his black eye, the filmmaker’s original goal on the “GMA” set was to promote his new Netflix basketball drama “Hustle.”
As shared by The Blast, the “Uncut Gems” star, who previously starred in sports movies like “The Waterboy,” teamed up with some of the biggest NBA and Hollywood stars for his latest project.
The comedy icon collaborated on the movie with LeBron James to create a wholesome story about a basketball scout named Stanley Sugarman [played by Sandler], who tries to reclaim his former glory.
On the journey to achieving a permanent coaching spot with the Sixers organization, Sugarman discovered an extraordinary opportunity in the form of a 22-year-old construction worker named Bo Cruz (played by Juancho Hernangomez).
With this new ace up his sleeve, the down-on-his-luck basketball scout tries to achieve his dreams by harnessing Cruz’s natural basketball talents and proving the dynamic duo belonged in the NBA.
Directed by Jeremiah Zagar, the “Hustle” also stars Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, Jordan Hull, Ben Foster, Heidi Gardner, Jaleel White, and Maria Botto alongside NBA players Aaron Gordon, Boban Marjanović, Kyle Lowry, Seth Curry, etc.
The People’s Choice Award Winner Received Milkshake Tribute From IHOP
The Blast previously reported that Sandler went viral following an encounter at one of the branches of the famous Long Island International House of Pancakes, ‘IHOP.’
The 55-year-old and his daughter tried to enjoy the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat deal; however, the pair left due to an unsavory response from one IHOP hostess.
The woman in question, named Dayanna Rodas, posted a video of the problematic exchange on her TikTok account, noting that she did not realize the man in front of her was Adam Sandler.
According to the IHOP staff, the comedian and his daughter left the restaurant after being told there was a 30 minutes wait.
However, following the viral video, the “Blended” star explained on Twitter that he left because the all-you-can-eat deal did not cover milkshakes.
To make amends, IHOP announced on Instagram that they would provide customers with all-you-can-drink milkshakes every Monday in honor of a “famous funnyman.”
