Mark Hamill Cast As 'Key Character' In Netflix's 'The Sandman'

“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill has just been cast as a “key character” in the upcoming Netflix series “The Sandman.”
According to Deadline, Hamill will provide the voice for the character Merv Pumpkinhead. Hamill is joined by an all-star cast including “Star Wars” and “Game of Thrones” alum Gwendoline Christie, Tom Sturridge, and Vivienne Acheampong.
The series also features “Game of Thrones” alum Charles Dance, Boyd Holbrook, David Thewlis, Jenna Coleman, Stephen Fry, Patton Oswalt, Joely Richardson, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
Netflix Reveals Dramatic Teaser For ‘The Sandman’
On Monday, June 6, Netflix kicked off Day 1 for its Geeked Week event and released a dramatic teaser for “The Sandman” series, which can be seen above. The series will officially hit the streaming service later this year on August 5.
The series will follow the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he tries to fix all the cosmic and human mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.
“The Sandman” is based on the popular comic book series by Neil Gaiman and will consist of ten episodes. The series is described as a “rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven.”
In the first look of the series displayed in the clip above, Tom Sturridge makes his highly-anticipated debut as Dream.

On Monday night, Mark Hamill teased his involvement in the upcoming Netflix series by retweeting Deadline's article to his Twitter page.
