By Kristin Myers on June 6, 2022 at 5:00 PM EDT
Big Cat Rescue CEO Carole Baskin turned 61 on Monday, June 6!
The animal rights activist was born on June 6, 1961, in Lackland, Texas. She tuns the Big Cat Rescue non-profit animal sanctuary in Tampa, Florida, and has received international media attention for her efforts to shed light on protecting big cats.
However, Carole Baskin has also become a household name due to the 2020 Netflix series "Tiger King," which became a global phenomenon during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown due to her public feud with Joe Exotic. Although some believe that Carole Baskin killed her first husband, Don Lewis, Carole insists she didn't and says the FBI has actually found proof that he's still alive in Costa Rica.
Whatever the case, Baskin has since moved on with her life and has earned plenty of supporters for her goal in big cat conservation.

#JOEvsCAROLE took fans deeper into the infamous rivalry between Joe Exotic & Carole Baskin. The cast gave a performance of a lifetime and brought a certain level of vulnerability & compassion to the characters we thought we knew. To celebrate her birthday, fans might want to consider giving Peacock's "Joe vs. Carole" scripted series a try. Although Carole is played by "Saturday Night Live" alum Kate McKinnon in the Peacock series, it gives fans even more backstory into Carole's life.
