Olympic diving legend Greg Louganis has agreed to split custody of the family dog with his ex-husband in the former couple's divorce settlement.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Louganis, and ex-husband Johnny Chaillot agreed to share the custody of their dog -- Roxy -- following their split. The settlement breaks down what each of the parties will take with them following the break-up, and what type of support will be paid.
"Parties agree to coordinate and cooperate in order to maintain joint care and custody of their dog "Roxy," the settlement reads.
Greg Louganis Keeping His 'Air Chamber' In Divorce Settlement With Ex-Husband
Interestingly, another high-priced item was included in the settlement. Apparently, they had an expensive "air chamber" in their home -- and the former Olympian want to keep it. We are guessing this is a hyperbaric chamber that reportedly reduces inflammation, oxygenates injured muscle, and regenerates skeletal muscle.
"(Johnny) to receive S7000 from (Louganis) as his share of the Air Chamber to be retained by (Louganis)," the document reads.
As expected, Louganis is keeping possession of all of his Olympic memorabilia, including anything in the couple's properties or businesses. "All Greg Louganis Memorabilia, whether in (Greg's) home and office or held in the offices of Loeb & Loeb, is confirmed as the sole and separate property of (Louganis)," the settlement says.
Former Olympian's Divorce NOT Going To Be Nasty Over Money
The good news, the former couple won't be fighting over money, as each of them is forgoing spousal support from one another. Plus, they don't have any minor children that might trigger child support. "In consideration of the other terms of this agreement, and whereas both spouses are fully self-supporting, we each waive all right or claim which we may now have to receive support from the other. No court shall have jurisdiction to award spousal support at any time regardless of any circumstances that may arise," it says.
A few other small items are in the agreement including Greg keeping his Prius, and Johnny the Lexus along with keeping their own bank accounts.
As you know, Greg Louganis rose to fame winning gold medals in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympic Games. At one point, he was named the "world's best diver." Besides swimming, Louganis is an LGBTQIA+ activist and has written several books.
Greg and Johnny met on an online dating site -- Match -- and were married in October of 2013.
Greg Louganis Announces Divorce, Settlement During Pride Month
The settlement was made public at the beginning of Pride month, something the former couple addressed in their public statement about the divorce. "At this time, Johnny and I wish to share that we are respectfully and mutually ending our marriage. Marriage among all couples is more often than not challenging, and, particularly during #pridemonth, it's important that we say how grateful we were to be among the first gay couples to have the privilege to marry legally, and face these challenges so many do. It's something not so long ago that many of us were certain would never happen," Greg posted on Instagram.
Adding, "And so, we make this announcement with that in mind, and to ask for the respect and privacy of anyone heading down this new road we must embrace. Thanks to everyone who has supported and nurtured us all of these years."
