Actor Hayden Christensen has returned to a galaxy far, far away in the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, which finally made its debut on Disney+ late last month.
He and costar Ewan McGregor have reprised their roles from the prequel trilogy to take fans on a new six-episode adventure that takes place about ten years after their last duel on Mustafar.
Although the two costars are now enemies on the show, the two couldn’t be closer in real life. Christensen recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he does use the Force in real life… to cheat at pool.
Wait… Hayden Christensen Uses The Force To Do What Now?
The conversation probably came out from a previous interview that Entertainment Weekly did with Obi-Wan himself, Ewan McGregor, who admitted that he uses the Force wave to open automatic doors at the local supermarket.
“I like to do that with automatic doors just for my own amusement,” he told the publication ahead of the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” premiere. “I always do a little Jedi move for the doors and I have occasionally been caught doing it. You know, like at the supermarket or something when I'm wheeling my trolley out.”
“It's just always for my own, because it makes me laugh,” he added. “But occasionally I've been caught doing that, and that's kind of embarrassing.”
After they got Ewan McGregor to admit that he tried to use the Force in his own life, it was Hayden Christensen’s turn to answer the same question.
Hayden Christensen Tried To Use The Force When Playing Pool
Back when they were still filming the prequel trilogy, Christensen revealed that he really did try to use the Force to beat Ewan McGregor at pool.
“I remember when we were first starting on Episode II when I was first getting to play the character, I used to do that a little bit,” he recalled. “I remember going to a local bar with Ewan and playing pool and really trying my best to affect where the balls were going using the Force.”
“It never quite worked,” he admitted. “But you can’t help yourself.”
When asked about his favorite scenes from the prequel trilogy, Christensen admitted, “I’ve got a few of them. It’s hard to pick just one.”
“From Episode III, there are so many,” he continued. “I really like that scene that I got to do with Ian McDiarmid in the opera, where he plants the seeds of his seduction for Anakin to see the value of potentially turning to the dark side. And that was a really enjoyable one to get to film.”
Hayden Christensen Rewatched All Of The ‘Star Wars’ Films And Series
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christensen didn’t just binge all nine episodes of the Skywalker Saga. He also went back and watched all of the animated shows, including “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels.”
“I really enjoyed what they did with the character in The Clone Wars,” Christensen explained. “I think Dave Filoni's storytelling in that series is really remarkable, and Matt Lanter does a great job voicing the character. There's lots of great stuff there to unpack. And I think as the series continues, it just gets better and better. And that last season is really great.”
When asked how Darth Vader is doing when fans catch up to him again in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Christensen explained, “We didn't want to deviate too much from what we already know. But also, this is a different time in his life, and he's very much consumed by all of his negative emotions. And all of that fuels his dark side abilities. We're just going to have to watch and find out.”
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is currently available to stream on Disney+.
