Matthew Morrison Leaves 'So You Think You Can Dance' After 1 Month

The 43-year-old Broadway star will no longer serve as a judge on Fox Network's dance competition series "So You Think You Can Dance" after failing to adhere to the program's rules.

As shared by DEADLINE, the entertainer announced the sad news of his departure in a statement that came not long after the show kicked off its 17th season.

This season of "So You Think You Can Dance" promised to be a worthwhile experience for fans with its star-studded judge panel featuring Morrison, Pop icon JoJo Siwa, and iconic choreographer Stephen "tWitch" Boss.

However, a month after the Tony Award-nominated actor was announced as one of the stars of the hit dance competition series, the Hollywood star's time with the show ended.

A week after the show's 17th season premiered, the "Glee" alum was kicked off the judging panel for failing to carry out his duties according to the production's protocols.

Although the entertainer did not elaborate on what rules he broke, Morrison confirmed his departure in a lengthy statement that expressed remorse for his actions.

"Having the opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance was an incredible honor for me," the father-of-two confessed, "therefore, it is my deepest regret to inform you that I will be leaving the show."

After participating in the audition rounds for the show that yielded 12 finalists, "The Good Wife" star admitted that he was not impartial in his judgment. The 43-year-old said:

"I did not follow competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly. I cannot apologize enough to all involved."

Despite losing his spot on the show, the "American Horror Story: 1984" actor remained optimistic as he concluded his statement with a passionate declaration.

According to the theater alum, he would continue to support the Fox program by watching what he believed would be one of the best seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance."

As for the actor's replacement, sources told the news outlet that a new judge would be joining Siwa and Boss on the panel. However, the individual's name would be announced on June 15.

Before the new round of the competition episodes air with a new face, fans will get to see Morrison in four episodes, which were pre-taped before the California native's exit.

In the 17th season, Cat Deeley reprised her role as the long-running host of the dance competition series, where talented dancers aged 18-30 battle for supremacy on the dance floor.

Rosie Seitchik serves as the program's showrunner and executively produces the series alongside the co-creators Nigel Lythgoe, Jeff Thacker, Eli Holzman, and Aaron Saidman.

The Blast previously reported that Morrison broke his silence on the racism allegations against his former "Glee" co-star Lea Michele.

At the time, the "Scream Queens" actress faced backlash on various social media platforms after Samantha Marie Ware, another star on the hit Fox show, accused the Bronx native of being abusive on set.

According to the alleged victim, the "Same Time, Next Christmas" star made her time on "Glee" miserable by forcing Ware to endure multiple "traumatic microaggressions."

Following these allegations, several castmates, including Amber Riley and Heather Morris, confirmed that Michele's diva-like behavior made things difficult for others.

Addressing the viral incident, Morrison admitted that he found the situation distracting as they were more significant issues in the world.

As for his former co-star's behavior, the actor seemingly confirmed the actress's negative behavior by saying, "You want to be a good, pleasant person to be around. That’s about all I’m going to say on that."

Michele also addressed the rumors with a lengthy apology, in which she confessed that her "privileged position, immaturity, and rigid perspective" caused her to be perceived as "insensitive or inappropriate."

Accepting her flaws, "The Mayor" actress added that she tended to be "unnecessarily difficult." However, she never meant to hurt anyone.

The Satellite Award winner asked for forgiveness, noting that she had reflected on her shortcomings just as people grew and changed every day.
