Amber Heard Says She Wants To 'Get My Voice Back' In Final Testimony

Actor Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard continue to make headlines as the trial approaches closing arguments on Friday.

The couple has been facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court for most of the past month. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was her abuser. Heard claims that she has also been losing out on movie roles, including several scenes from the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel, and is countersuing for $100 million dollars.

Depp’s legal team only has one more witness to call to the stand before Heard’s team has a chance to call final witnesses. Closing arguments are still scheduled for Friday. Depp's first and final witness on Thursday morning was a hand surgeon that testified that the injury that occurred to Depp's finger could have occurred the way that Depp alleged. Heard's team called two more witnesses to the stand shortly after to discuss her bruise photos and her mental health.

As a result of the Waldman statements, Heard alleged that she was harassed "every day."

"People want to kill me and they tell me so every day," she told the jury. She alleged that people have also threatened her daughter by saying they would put her in a microwave. She said she wakes up screaming and she says she has to live with the trauma that has done to her. She said that it is affecting her friends and intimate partners as well.

She testified that she was not "smirking" or "snickering" during the court testimony she said as she broke down on the stand. "I am a human being," she said.

She said that she wants to advocate for others who do not have the platform that she has. "If it gives a voice to someone who doesn't have it ... I can't have a career. I can't even have people associate with me because of the attacks they have to endure," she told the jury.

"I receive hundreds of death threats regularly, if not daily," she testified. She said she has received "thousands" of death threats since the trial started, with people mocking her and the things that she lived through.

"It's been agonizing, painful, and humiliating," she said of living through her alleged abuse each day of the trial.

"Johnny has taken enough of my voice," she said. "I have a right to tell my story. I have a right as an American to talk about what happened to me. To own my story and my truth. I have that right. I hope to get my voice back. That's all I want and I've said that from day one."
