Comparison is often said to be the 'thief of joy.' The age old quote seems to be ringing true for Mick Jagger!

The Rolling Stones front man, 78, isn't too keen on being compared to one of pop music's biggest superstars of the modern era, Harry Styles.

The comparisons between Jagger and Styles are not anything new. In fact, Styles poked a little fun at their resemblance during a "Saturday Night Live" sketch from five years ago where he played a younger Jagger appearing on "Celebrity Family Feud."

Despite the fact Styles nailed Jagger's signature pout in the sketch, the man of honor doesn't seem to be laughing very hard over the oft-repeated comparison refrain between the pair.

Over the weekend, Jagger caught up with The Sunday Times as per the New York Daily News, wherein he acknowledged the comparisons and attempted to put them to rest once and for all.

"I mean, I used to wear a lot more eye make-up than him... I was much more androgynous, Jagger said, referring to his sixties and seventies era fashion choices.

Styles has become a style icon in the last few years for his continuous commitment to restructure gender norms in fashion.

In 2019, following the release of his bestselling second album "Fine Line, " Styles spoke to The Guardian (per Vogue UK), about his love for wearing gender-bending threads. "If I see a nice shirt and get told, 'But it's for ladies,' I think: 'Okaaaay?' Doesn't make me want to wear it any less though... I think the moment you feel comfortable with yourself, it all becomes a lot easier."

Jagger didn't stop at style comparisons.

"And he doesn't have a voice like mine or move on stage like me; he just has a superficial resemblance to my younger self, which is fine- he can't help that," he added.

More Chatter With Jagger

Mick Jagger

Despite Jagger's staunch belief that no pop star will ever have 'the moves' like him except for himself, (we're looking at you, Adam Levine!), he did begin his interview with a bit of praise for Styles.

"I like Harry- we have an easy relationship," he said.

Jagger and Styles' knowledge of one another predates the latter singer's solo career.

Back in 2015, Jagger shared in an interview with The Mail, "He's got it going on. I know him, he comes to see me in lots of shows. And yeah, I can see the influence. But I don't say anything to him, I just tell him he looks nice. I like him. He's very decent." (via York Press UK)

Styles happens to think Jagger is 'decent' too!

When naming his influences in an interview with L'Officiel while promoting "Fine Line," Styles included Jagger on his list. Of the various songwriters, Styles said, "When I look at them, I don't know what it is, but it's this, this 'something special.''

Harry Styles is likely way too busy to concentrate on Sir. Mick Jagger's opinion about their similarities. His third LP "Harry's House" was released last Friday, and it is already looking like the album will be a huge critical success!
