Doja Cat is sharing devastating news with her fans!
The beloved rapper revealed that she would have to put a stop to all upcoming shows and festival appearances due to issues with her tonsil.
Doja had been open with fans about her vaping addiction and warned that it might result in her staying off music for a while.
Doja Cat To Undergo Tonsil Surgery, No More Shows
In a social media update, the "Juicy" songstress broke the news that she would be going on a performance hiatus. She wrote in the statement shared, "Hi guys. I wanted you to hear it from me first. Unfortunately, I have to have surgery on my tonsils asap."
She continued, "The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take a while due to swelling. That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour.
Expressing her disappointment at having to let her fans down, she concluded, "I feel horrible about this but can't wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y'all."
Doja was shown an outpouring of love and support from fans who wished her a speedy recovery. One fan wrote, "take care of that throatussy!! we’ll always be here ❤️," while another added, "health must always come first. get well soon and i love you so much 🤍."
Doja was set to tour with The Weeknd for his "After Hours Til Dawn" North America show this summer, slated to begin on July 8 and end on September 3.
The 'Woman' Rapper Struggles With A Vaping Addiction
Doja's news comes as no surprise to her fans as she previously warned about a possible disappointment during a Q&A session with her followers on Twitter.
"dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is fucked so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon," she warned in a Thursday tweet.

As you might know, during the Billboard Music Awards last weekend, the California native made headlines after being seen on camera, vaping, and taking a gulp of a drink before walking on stage to accept an award.
Explaining the viral moment and the effect it had on her, Doja wrote, "nah so my tonsils got infected before bbmas and i was taking fuckin antibiotics but forgot that i was taking them and then i drank wine and was vaping all day long and then i started getting a nasty ass growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today."
The Grammy Award-winning artist explained that the doctor had to drain pout the abscess in her tonsils during a very painful procedure that made her cry.
When fans wondered why she was vaping and urged her to throw it away, the 26-year-old opened up about her ongoing nicotine addiction.
"Throwing them away just instills panic. I'm addicted but I'm not weak," Doja confessed. "I was literally staring at my vape today that normally I'd hit a thousand times a day and hit it two times instead. I'ma try to go cold turkey for now but hopefully, my brain doesn't need it at all by then."
In a follow-up tweet, she clapped back at fans who told her to simply just quit, writing, "so foh with that "THROW IT AWAY THEN QUEEN" shit. that doesn't help anybody and it just sounds condescending to anybody who is actually struggling w nicotine addiction. I've tried all that throw it away shit before. doesn't work."
Doja thanked her community for their assurance and support amid the tough time, writing, "yall bout to make me cry with all the reassurance. i appreciate it. thanks for being supportive. i love you.
She then admitted that she couldn't satisfy her craving for Mexican pizza as she was restricted to a diet of just "chicken soup and pita" as her tonsil heals from the procedure.
Doja Isn't Quitting Music Just Yet
The songwriter's update comes days after she cleared the air about her plans to quit her music career. As you might know, in late March, Doja had an online rant about wanting to exit the industry forever because "Music is dead to me."
Months after the angry declaration, Doja shared that she has seemingly changed her mind. However, when asked if she was joking in the tweet, the "Say So" songstress said,
"It wasn't a joke to her at the time. But I think it's also—I'm here because I made music and I want to make music again."
It was undoubtedly good news for fans who were dreading the thought of her ending her music career.
