Victoria Beckham Says That Women Today Prefer To 'Look Healthy And Curvy'

Victoria Beckham is one of the most versatile celebrities, with her hands in music, television, and fashion design. The former Spice Girls member just unveiled the latest of her clothing collection and shared her opinion on women's body trends.

Beckham shared her opinion in an interview about the new clothing collection and said that she thinks the desire to have a "really thin" body is now "old-fashioned" and no longer trendy. 

Beckham also spoke about how she taught body positivity to her daughter and shared how she felt when her son got married last month. Read on to find out what else the fashion designer said. 

Beckham unveiled her latest women's clothing collection, VB Body, during an interview with Jess Cartner-Morley from Grazia. The clothing collection includes several form-fitting pieces that are meant to hug and flatter the body.

The 48-year-old former Spice Girl said, "Every woman wants a nice, round, curvy bottom, right. For that, you need a really tight knit that nips you in at the waist and holds you in all the right places." 

She continued, "It's an old-fashioned attitude, wanting to be really thin. I think women today want to look healthy, and curvy. They want to have some boobs – and a bum." It's a topic that many people have spoken about recently, and many are happy that someone with influence and status like Beckham is addressing the shift in body image.

Beckham is one half of a power couple as she has been married to former footballer David Beckham since 1999, and they have four kids together, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

Beckham also spoke about how she has had to teach her 10-year-old daughter Harper about body positivity and to embrace her body. She mentioned that the family spends a lot of time in Florida since David is the co-owner of the Inter Miami football team. 

She said, "There are a lot of really curvy women in Miami, and they really own it, you know? They walk along Miami beach with a lot of clothes on, and they look fantastic. They show their bodies off with such confidence."

"I found both their attitude and their style really liberating," she continued, "And as a mother, I loved that Harper was around women who were really celebrating their curves and enjoying how they look."

According to Beckham, the new VB Body clothing collection aims to help women show off their curves as it consists of a lot of skintight designs that create a "really flattering silhouette" on the wearer.

The collection ranges from sizes of a UK 6 to a UK 18, and Beckham said, "The curvier you are, the better my VB Body dresses look." She had previously announced the line on her social media and said she and her team "meticulously designed" all the pieces "to flatter the body" and look "great on all different shapes and sizes."

Beckham also said that the clothing pieces include skirts, dresses, and tops that are made from a "really tight-knit jersey" that clings to skin and the "parts of our bodies we want to celebrate."

Beckham's first child, Brooklyn, recently married his girlfriend, Nicola Peltz, in a beautiful wedding at her family's estate in Miami. Beckham also spoke about the whole experience during her Grazia interview and shared how seeing her baby boy get married felt.

She said, "It's a big deal, your child getting married. I was very emotional. David's speech was beautiful. It seems like yesterday that David was holding Brooklyn in his little purple cowboy hat and outfit at our wedding – now our baby is married." 

Brooklyn and Peltz met in 2018 at Coachella, went public about their relationship in 2020, and finally tied the knot this April. Their wedding had a total of 500 guests, which included famous celebrities like Eva Longoria, Serena Williams, Spice Girls' Melanie C, Gordon Ramsay, and Tom Brady.
