Actor Harrison Ford and actress Helen Mirren have been signed on to star in the “Yellowstone” prequel, “1932.”
According to Deadline, “1932” is the working title for the next installment of the Dutton origin story.
Harrison Ford & Helen Mirren Are Joining The ‘Yellowstone’ Franchise
Right now, there is no word as to what characters will play. The only information known at the moment is a statement passed along by the outlet, saying “the next story will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”
The series is expected to debut in December, exclusively on Paramont+, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is not the only “Yellowstone” spin-off that fans are excited about. Fans were head over heels for 1883, with featured Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James Dutton and Margaret Dutton. The drama also starred Sam Elliott, LaMonica Garrett and Isabel May and became the most-watched series on Paramount+.
The fourth season of “Yellowstone” was a major hit for the streamer. In addition to totaling over 11 million viewers, the show also received its first Screen Actors Guild Award and several Producers Guild Award nominations. The fifth season of the show is currently in production.
THR reported that its other spin-off, “6666,” is still in the early development stages and more information about the project is not known at this time.
For fans of “Star Wars” alum Harrison Ford, this is not the only time that he will be gracing the screen in the near future.
Ford Will Star In New Apple TV+ Series ‘Shrinking’
Early last month, The Hollywood Reporter announced that “The Fugitive” star has been cast as the lead in “Shrinking,” a new comedy series on Apple TV+. The project, which also stars Jason Segel, was created by “Ted Lasso” producers Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Segel.
The series focuses on Segel, who plays a grieving therapist who starts to “break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks.” Meanwhile, Ford will be playing Dr. Phil Rhodes, who is described as a “blue-collar shrink.” Rhodes has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which “forces him out of his comfort zone.”
Although Ford is known for his prolific film career, this will actually be Ford’s first series regular role in a TV series.
In 1977, Ford starred in the first “Star Wars” movie, “A New Hope.” After starring as Han Solo in the original film trilogy, he later reprised his role as the iconic smuggler in 2015’s “The Force Awakens,” the first film in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy. Although he met his demise at the hands of his son, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo (Adam Driver), Ford returned to the franchise once again in 2019 for “The Rise of Skywalker,” which wrapped up the nine-episode Skywalker Saga.
It remains to be seen if Ford will ever return to a galaxy far, far away, but at least fans can still catch Harrison Ford on TV.
