Mama June Sees Nothing Wrong With Honey Boo Boo's Relationship

Mama June is A-Okay with her 16-year-old dating a 20-year-old.

The reality TV star recently opened up about her youngest daughter’s relationship with Dralin Carswell to TooFab.

In an interview on Tuesday, May 11, the matriarch of the family said, “I've met Dralin. They've been together for over a year. People need to realize that she's going to be 17 in August and that [Alana's older sister] Pumpkin and Josh were the same age as they were."

She continued to explain that people are up in arms due to interracial aspect of the relationship.

June said, “She is getting a lot of hate because she's in an interracial relationship, he is older. But at the end of the day, Alana's not that 6-, 7-year-old child y'all fell in love with 11 years ago. Alana has grown up, she's graduating high school next year, guys!"

Alana, aka “Honey Boo Boo,” rose to fame on TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras.”

While everything seems hunky dory with Alana and Dralin’s relationship, there is one thing Mama June has concerns about.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on May 9, she said, “He's good. He needs to hold down a job a little bit more.”

She made it a point to reassure fans that Dralin isn’t a bad boyfriend.

“I mean, he's not bad. He doesn't treat her bad or anything like that,” she said.  "They're [young] and they've been together over a year. So, if they last? Fine. If they don't, it can be her first love."

The lovebirds’ relationship began in secret but was later revealed at the end of last year. Honey Boo Boo is sixteen while Carswell is twenty, and fans do not approve of the four-year age gap.

the TV star and her sweetheart have shown they are not bothered by people’s comments. They’ve posted affectionate photos of them enjoying each other’s company.

The 16-year-old took an outdoor stroll with her lover in April, and they were seen holding hands. Based on Page Six‘s report, their walk happened to be not too far from her home in McIntyre, Georgia.

She appeared totally taken with Carswell, who looked hooked while happily basking in the beautiful moment.

The pair seemed to be all over each other, and at a point, they joked around while posing behind a tree. They also munched on some ice from the area’s Frozen Frog store.

Honey Boo Boo and Carswell have been seen together severally in the past, and a source revealed to The USSun saying, “Dralin and Alana are attached at the hip and hang out together all the time.”

“He was quiet at first, but he’s like one of the family now. He’s just as fun and crazy as the rest of them,” the insider shared regarding Carswell.

Honey Boo Boo previously spoke about her dating life last August in an interview with Teen Vogue, where she admitted she had no real friends besides her boyfriend.
