President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Awards Puppy Patron With Ukraine Military Award

One puppy is rightfully being honored for his service to Ukraine.

On Instagram, the Ukrainian Ministry shared a photo of a puppy named Patron, who was honored with a military award for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his service to the country while battling the current Russian invasion.

"Nothing but Ukrainian sapper dog Patron after receiving a military award from President Zelenskyy ?" they wrote in the caption. "The dog helped to detect over 200 (!) explosives and helps to teach children about mines."

"Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister, had a great chance to congratulate Patron in person too ?" they added.

On Twitter, the Canadian Prime Minister shared a photo of the brave pup. He tweeted, "Meet Patron. He has already helped Ukrainian forces detect more than 200 explosives, and he helps teach children about mines. The other day, President @ZelenskyyUa honoured him – and his owner – for all that they have done and for all that they continue to do."

It seems that Patron must really be working around the clock, as one fan posted a photo of the adorable pup taking a snooze during a joint press conference.

Another fan shared even more photos of the "legendary sapper dog" out in the field, actively hunting for bombs.

Back in April, their official Instagram account had posted another photo of Patron taking a snooze.

“It is midnight in Ukraine,” they captioned the snap. “Brave and hard-working dog-deminer Patron wishes you calm sleep and sweet dreams ✨”

Defense reporter with The Kyiv Independent, Illia Ponomarenko also posted a photo with Patron, saying that he is "at our service here" in the above snap.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Austria Olexander Scherba, also posted a video to mark the occasion. He tweeted, "Patron the dog, the legend of this war, got his presidential award today, too. How cute is that!"

One fan added to the post with yet another video of Patron working out in the field, proving that everyone is doing their part to defend Ukraine's freedom.
