Marlo Hampton has been a part of the "Real Housewives Of Atlanta" as a friend of the former peach-holder Nene Leakes. Even as a friend of the show, she has steadily delivered drama and allure.

In her ten-year stint on the "RHOA," fans have been wondering why she's not been given the peach, which would automatically entitle her to a housewife position on the show.

While this has been a constant source of ire for diehard fans of the show, the wait is over. The 14th season of the "RHOA" is kicking off with Hampton as a full-time housewife.

Recently she opened up about how she felt about her new title and why she accepted it.

Marlo Hampton: 'I Needed To Clear My Name'

She spoke to Insider recently about why she decided to take on the role of a housewife on "RHOA."

"I feel that you deserve it," she said about the show's diehards. "For 10 years I've had people rooting for me, supporting me, texting, DMing, 'You need a peach, you need a peach.'"

Although the fashion mogul is a fan favorite, she has been embroiled in one controversy or the other. During her stint as a friend of the show, she was constantly jeered for not being a full-time housewife. Even a former housewife openly declared that Hampton deserved what she got owing to some "defects" in her character.

At the time, Hampton was accused of physical altercations and check frauds.

While being a full housewife on the show might come with perks, it can also come with some pressure. The housewives are mandated to share every bit of their lives with the public. Hampton mentioned that she had no problems with it and, if anything, she would be able to "clear her name."

"I needed people to come into my world and really see who Marlo is. So to me, it's just so amazing and important that I'm able to share all of me, all of Marlo, to the world," she said. "At first it was awful. And then I have two nephews growing up, hearing the rumors, hearing the awful things."

'Parenting Two Nephews Has Changed The Way I View Issues'

Hampton told Insider that she's less reactionary now following the parenting of her two nephews. She became a parent, or "muntie," (an amalgamation of the words mom & auntie) as she fondly calls it when she brought her nephews to live with her over two years ago.

"Being a muntie is amazing. It has its ups and its downs, but I think I love having someone. I love having two people who I have to take care of," she told Insider. "It's just knowing that someone loves you, they depend on you. And a lot of my decisions I make, I put them first now."

While bringing to the fore how they've impacted her, she said of thinking of "popping" her co-star Kenya Moore in the lip, but after thinking of two nephews, she wouldn't want to do that again. "But they just make you think before you react to a lot of things."

Her Nephews Encounter Scathy Comments Because Of Her

She told Insider that her nephews get negative comments from others for being related to her.

"I let them know, in school people are evil, people will say mean things, people will make up things about you if they don't know anything about you," Hampton recalled. "The most important thing is being true to yourself, loving you, and just being confident in who you are. And that's something I try to instill in them."

She added that people were always going to say whatever they wanted to say, regardless.

There Are Various Speculations On How Marlo Hampton Makes Her Money

Most fans, even co-stars, still speculate about the source of Hampton's earnings. They also remain dissatisfied when she offers replies about her fashion company and a wig brand called "Her."

"People still don't know what you do," said Kandi Burruss to her in the season 14 premiere. However, she shot back and told her she was lying.

Before this time, other co-stars had frequently implied that her source of extravagant living came from trading her body with wealthy men in exchange for money.

"It hurts me that you keep saying I'm a prostitute, a whore," Hampton said to Moore during the season 10 reunion, challenging her to provide evidence of such claims. "Where, where are the receipts?" screamed Hampton.

Concerning those rumors, Hampton has posited that they'll continue to grow despite her efforts to stop them.

"It's more exciting to make up a story," added Hampton. "People are bored. They're lonely. They wish they were me. They're jealous. So they just make up an artificial fake story and they're happy with it."

She continued, "If that makes them happy, let them continue to make up the fake stories, like the fake designers they wear."
