Garcelle Beauvais just released her memoir, and the actress isn't holding anything back. The former "The View" guest host shed some light on her time on the talk show, starting from her first impression of actress Whoopi Goldberg.

The actress accused Goldberg of acting "cringeworthy" toward the talk show producers. The incident apparently happened during Beauvais' audition to join the hosts on "The View." The former co-host said she was "shocked and appalled" by Goldberg's alleged behavior.

That's not all. The 55-year-old described her reception as a new host on the show. She said that she didn't get any warm welcome and that the entire workplace seemed really "uninviting." Beauvais added that while on the show, because she didn't want to contradict the opinions of her co-hosts, she tried "piggybacking" off their comments.

Garcelle Beauvais Says Whoopi Goldberg Was 'Testy' To 'The View' Producers

In Beauvias' newly released memoir "Love Me As I Am," the former host recalled an incident with Goldberg that she described as "cringeworthy." According to her, she witnessed the actress behaving in a "testy" way towards the show's producers. This was around when the 55-year-old was auditioning for a role in "The View" after Rosie O'Donnell left in 2015.

The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star wrote, "I was shocked and appalled to see how testy Whoopi was with the show's producers. I was embarrassed and disappointed, to say the least. It was cringeworthy."

Beauvais was reportedly asked to audition after O'Donnell's exit, an opportunity which she jumped to accept. She previously revealed that she always dreamed of owning and hosting her own talk show, some of which came true.

Beauvais Said She Got A Cold Welcome On Her First Day

Still on her time on "The Talk," Beauvais recalled her early days at work. According to her, she greatly looked forward to working together with Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace; however, it didn't turn out as expected. She revealed that there weren't any "greetings or welcoming niceties" upon her arrival.

"Here I was, the eager new kid in class, and I ran smack dab into the reality of an uninviting workplace. There was a brief nonchalant recognition that I was the co-host up to bat this week. No greetings or welcoming niceties, just a hey, and they continued on with the [top of the morning] meeting [with producers]. Okay."

Beauvais further disclosed that while she thought she did okay on camera, she wasn't sure because none of her co-workers attempted to give her any feedback. She continued, "The energy was cold, unfriendly and standoffish. The atmosphere was so opposite to my friendly nature and definitely not what I had expected or hoped for."

Beauvais Got Kicked Under The Table By Rosie Perez

Further on in her book, Beauvais mentioned how she tried to "piggyback" off her co-host's comments to find some sort of balance. According to her, most of what the rest of them said contradicted her opinions, so she had to change her strategy. Piggybacking apparently didn't help.

The 55-year-old recalled a moment on the show when co-host Perez reportedly kicked her leg under the table. Beauvais described the kick as the universal "Shut-the-f**k-up-bi**h, you're-talking-too-much signal kick."

When they got offset, Perez reportedly told Beauvais, "'Girl, you know, I just wanted you to know that you needed to be quiet. I thought you were gonna go on too long. You know, we have a system here, and we know when the other one is about to talk. So I just wanted to stop you from talking too much."

The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star wrote, "What kind of system is that where grown women kick each other like f**king mules? Was this a new type of Morse code or something? GTFOOH!" After being on the show for some time, the actress concluded that the job wasn't for her.

Beauvais Said She Told Whoopi Before Releasing Her Book

In her book, Beauvais maintained that she still thought the actress was great despite Goldberg's alleged shortcomings. The duo recently collaborated on a 2022 Lifetime film, "Caught in His Web," with Beauvais as an actress and Goldberg as the executive producer.

Talking about the meeting, she said, "I got reintroduced to Whoopi, and I think sometimes you don't get a second chance like that. Sometimes you have to be open to a reintroduced." The 55-year-old said that she thought Goldberg was an icon in terms of everything she achieved in the industry.

Beauvais revealed that she ran it by Goldberg before writing her memoir. "Of course, I addressed it with Whoopi. She didn't remember. But I told her because I didn't want to go into the film like I was bamboozling her. That's not my thing. So it was important that she knew that was in my book. We're all good now."
