Ross Mathews Was Anxious

Mathews described the ceremony as "a destination wedding," so they sent out 130 invites. He admitted that he thought only 50 would show up but was "thrilled" to see up to 110 guests.

The couple also struggled with deciding on the wedding venue since Mathews lives in LA and García in NYC. "It caused me such anxiety," Mathews recalled, but Barrymore gave them the perfect idea by telling them to "'Do it where you're supposed to do it, and the people who are supposed to be there will be there.'" "So we chose the place where we first met," he continued.

Barrymore didn't just give the sweethearts great wedding ideas, but she also attended the ceremony as their flower girl.

How Drew Barrymore Became Flower Girl

Mathews explained how Barrymore became him and García's flower girl. "I was on the 'The Drew Barrymore Show,'" he mentioned. "One day we were doing a story about weddings and she asked me, 'Are you going to have a flower girl at your wedding?' And I'm like, 'Why? You want the gig?'"

"And she was like, 'Oh! Are you asking me to be your flower girl?' I was like, 'Do you want to be?' She goes, 'Are you serious?' I'm like, 'Are you serious?' And she's like, 'I'm so serious.' So she's our flower girl!" Mathews narrated.

How The Ceremony Went

The couple's parents were represented by García's father, who walked both grooms down the aisle. Raquel, García's sister, was the maid of honor beside Eric, Mathews' brother, who served as the best man. The couple's nephews, Andrew and Evan, were their ring bearers as directed by celebrity wedding planner Micheal Russo.

When asked about their wedding, Russo told People"The profound love shared by Ross and Wellinthon was felt by all of those in attendance at their beautiful and touching ceremony. The two exchanged heartfelt vows against the picture-perfect backdrop of an epic sunset painting the Puerto Vallarta, Mexico sky."

Mathews also recalled crying when writing his vows to García. "I wrote mine on the train into the city and I just started to cry. It was so overwhelming, thinking about all the things I wanted to say to him," he said.

The wedding rings were designed at OIS & Co. by Jean Kemanjian. The wedding meals were as beautiful as the ceremony, as the guests had bruschetta, fresh fish, salad, sashimi, and more. Garćia picked the red velvet cake.

Ross Mathews' Post-Wedding Plans

Mathews also recalled wanting local musicians to perform. "It was important to us to get local people to contribute to this wedding. We're there in Puerto Vallarta for a reason; we want the culture there. It'll switch to a DJ for a dance party later," he said.

When asked about his post-wedding plans, Mathews explained that he'd like to spend more time with his guests at Puerto Vallarta. "We'll spend a few days in Puerto Vallarta with all our guests," he said. About his honeymoon, he said, "Afterwards, we're going to Las Alamandas resort. It's remote, just outside of Puerto Vallarta. We'll stay there for a few days."

Mathews doesn't know how things will go after the honeymoon, but he's positive about spending a long time with García. "I don't know what happens next, but I know we're going to be happy," Mathews said. "This is the beginning of something amazing."
