Billionaire Elon Musk knows that you can’t get to the top without making a few enemies, but it seems that he might have made an enemy out of… Ford?

It wouldn't be that much of a surprise if the car company had beef with the Tesla CEO, but according to one website, a new Ford ad is reportedly trying to ruffle Musk’s feathers.

New Ford Ad Is Taking Aim At… Elon Musk?

In a new Ford ad, a narrator says, “Right now it could seem like the only people who matter are the loudest. Those who want to tear things down and then fly away on their personal spaceships when things get hard. But we’ve got 182,000 people and they’re building.”

It’s definitely possible that Ford is referring to the SpaceX founder, especially with the mention of his own “personal spaceships.”

According to Gizmodo, the ad is only available to watch on YouTube right now but will air during this weekend’s Kentucky Derby. As the website noted, it’s unclear why the car company would go after Musk right now, especially since he just revealed that he plans to drop a whopping $44 billion dollars to buy Twitter.

In the comments, consumers didn’t really seem too happy with Ford either, but it didn’t have anything to do with Twitter’s new owner.

In the comments of the YouTube commercial, plenty of users called out Ford for their constant postponement of the new Bronco deliveries.

“182k people building things, and yet here we are... Still waiting on bronco orders... Knowing we're gonna get the shaft from your dealers and that you can't/won't do anything about it,” one user commented. “Maverick has been announced and delivered during the wait. I seem to recall the same with the mustang Mach e. The electric f150.”

“But something I've been waiting for since preorders opened still hasn't been delivered,” they continued. “Not so much as an explanation as to what we're currently waiting on. Anyway, keep releasing these types of videos and delivering other cars, and making reservation holders feel extra special by delivering just about everything first.”

However, some people did question why Ford would decide to attack Elon Musk.

“I own two newer Fords (New Ranger and Newer Escape EV)and this ad is very disappointing - why attack another great US innovator?” another asked. “If it wasn't for Elon, Ford probably wouldn't be making their so/so quality EV's.”

“This ad actually makes me want to buy a Tesla to support Elon. Ford, you can do better - please reconsider this ad,” they continued. “You can't make positive vibes for your products by negatively attacking others for their success! Maybe create an Ad noting that you are building on Tesla technology with your own? Stand on his shoulders vs. kicking him in the knees! Very poor choice - probably the last Fords I will own if this keeps up. Very disappointed.”

“Attacking another innovator is not the way to make your business look good…Coming from a family of ford owners,” another user mentioned. “I’m not happy with the tone of this ad.”

“This ad does not lift up your builders,” said another. “Ford can do great things without attacking someone else. I’ve driven an F150 for years and I do NOT like the negative nature of this ad. In America all ideas are welcome. Competition is good.”

Still, not everyone seemed convinced that the ad was about Musk. One user asked, “Was the start supposed to be a dig at Elon Musk or something lol?”

Many are curious to see if Musk will respond to this latest call-out.
