Bill Burr Claims That Amber Heard's Allegations 'Really Hurts Feminism'

Comedian Bill Burr is one of the many celebrities who is coming out to support Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against Amber Heard.

The couple is facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles - most notably the sixth "Pirates" film - due to the “clear implication” that he was the “Aquaman” actress’ abuser. Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars.

On his Monday Morning Podcast, "The Mandalorian" actor weighed in on the trial and threw his support behind Johnny Depp, even though he openly admitted that he's not watching the trial.

Burr's remarks in the podcast, which were transcribed by Yahoo, were clearly in support of the "Fantastic Beasts" actor, even though he openly admitted that he isn't watching the trial and doesn't plan to.

"I'm too big a Johnny Depp fan to watch," he admitted. "I love that guy and I just — I don't want to hear all these personal details and s---."

"From what I've seen, the guy is f------ destroying," Burr went on. "And what's great about this, is if he really does expose this woman for lying, I'm wondering — all these people that, you know, just accepted her lies about him if they're going to apologize somehow 'cause they publicly trashed him."

The stand-up comedian said that it would "be nice" if people "publicly apologized and said, 'Maybe next time we won't jump to conclusions.'"

Although Heard has been recounting her time on the stand in truly graphic detail, Burr claims that Amber Heard is lying about the abuse that she suffered at Depp's hands.

"It really does amaze me how the pendulum just does not seem to swing the other way," Burr continued. "That all of these women's groups that when they see a woman that lies like this, which really hurts their position because there are women out there that are in a relationship that this woman evidently lied and claimed that she was in when she wasn't."

"And for someone to go out and lie about it, hurts the people that are actually in it. So, you would think they would cover this," he added. "I think it really hurts feminism if they want more men to come along."

"If this really goes in the direction that everything she was saying was absolutely bull----... It just doesn't f------ seem right and you know what? It doesn't sit well with me," Burr said of Heard's claims. "It sounds like Johnny's going to [win], which makes me happy."

The judge presiding over the case has a prior commitment, so the trial will not continue Monday, May 16, when Heard will take the stand to be cross-examined. Although Depp was cool and collected on the stand, sometimes cracking jokes and smirking, Heard was not. Although she had seemed composed during Depp's testimony, she broke down on the stand and gave an emotional testimony of the psychological, physical, and sexual abuse that she allegedly suffered at Depp's hands.

On Thursday afternoon, their fight in Australia, where Depp lost the tip of his finger, was also revisited in graphic detail, where Heard alleges that she was violently sexually assaulted by Depp with a bottle of alcohol. “So, at one point, I’m up against the wall, and he’s screaming at me that he f---ing hates me,” she told the jury through tears.

One of the more bizarre allegations that Heard made concerning the incident took place the morning after. She said that, during the assault, Depp had ripped Heard's nightgown off of her. Heard claimed that, sometime in the night, the "Fantastic Beasts" actor had ripped up her nightgown and wrapped up pieces of raw meat in it. He left these "parcels" of raw meat wrapped in her nightgown around the house for her to find.
