Following the legal termination of Britney Spears' conservatorship after over 13 years, the pop star has caught the attention of a lot of people wanting to speak with her to get her candid side of the story of what she went through all those years.

In fact, it became more apparent following the multi-million dollar she landed with Simon and Schuster, a publishing company that was willing to pay her for a memoir.

'There Is A Ton Of Us Who Have Publicly Lost Our Freedom'

In her recent interview with Variety, Barrymore expressed her intent to have the popstar join her on her eponymous talk show.

"We can have a unique conversation," Barrymore explained her reasons for chatting with the pop icon. "There's not a ton of us out there who have publicly lost our freedom, had breakdowns in front of everyone, become punchlines, and fought our way back."

Although Spears hasn't replied to Barrymore's request, this would be her first post-conservatorship TV interview. It'd also surely be the highlight of Barrymore's talk-show career.

Spears Had The Kindest Words To Say About Barrymore

Spears admitted that Barrymore and Kate Hudson were one of the most beautiful women she had ever met in a now-deleted Instagram post.

"I've met 1000s of celebrities in the business … but I have to say the 2 people where I literally went speechless were @katehudson and @drewbarrymore," Spears wrote. "They are by far the 2 most beautiful people I have ever seen in my life !!! Like shocking !!!"

She continued, "Like shocking! I had to open my stupid mouth with Kate so I ran away immediately and with Drew, I went mute! I'm saying all this because it honestly is weird that in social media the expectation to be perfect is pretty crazy!"

However, it took Barrymore a few days to reply to Spears' heartfelt post because she wanted to choose her words rightly.

"Everyone at the show, because I was down here filming, came running up to me and was like did you see? And I just said I'll see it when I get upstairs," she said. "I wanna be, like, thoughtful. I wanna read every word that she says. I really want to respond thoughtfully, I really want to choose my words the right way."

Barrymore also lauded the "Toxic" singer's idea of writing a memoir and called it "an intelligent and smart way of telling her story."

The Actress Has Been Vocal About Spears Conservatorship

Last year, the "Scream" actress also spoke out to support the termination of Spears' conservatorship.

"This is about her and her life," Barrymore said in a recent interview with ET. "Everybody deserves the freedom to make mistakes or succeed in their lives and everything in between. That is what life is."

Following this, she mentioned that she had been sending the popstar videos of encouragement during her legal battle. She added that they were personal videos and held the "key to her freedom."

Although the singer never responded directly, Barrymore mentioned that she had been sending her own "little smoke signals."

"I wanted to really show her I'm someone who has understood what a journey is like and I don't compare myself to her, but I'm here to support her if there's anything she needs in private," she concluded per ET.

She also added that she initially didn't want to support her in front of the public glare and didn't want to talk about it on social media and Instagram. However, she realized that the issue was way bigger than keeping mute and noise had to be made to effect change.

Barrymore Has Had Similar Experiences As Spears

While the actress hasn't ever been under any conservatorship, she can relate to some of the complicated matters Spears faced as a young person in the entertainment industry.

In her memoir, "Wildflower," which she wrote in 2015, Barrymore explained how she got committed to a facility by her mom, who couldn't handle her behavior. She spoke about being emancipated by the court at just 14 years of age.

"I was out of control due to working since I was 11 months old and what that had done to my childhood, which made me grow up too fast," the actress wrote in her memoir. "Work was a very positive thing in my life, and sadly it had been taken away, because my mother also put me in an institution because she felt helpless. But when people found out, they just wrote me off as damaged goods, and I sadly understood that."

She also explained more in her interview with Howard Stern on his show. "I was in a place for a year and a half called Van Nuys Psychiatric and you couldn't mess around in there."

Hopefully, we get to see Britney and Drew have a one-on-one someday, as it would be nothing short of heartfelt and honest.
