'Vampire Diaries' Star, Kat Graham, Engaged To Long-Term BF, Darren Genet

Kat Graham is finally going to become a Mrs! "The Vampire Diaries" star actress is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, producer, and director Darren Genet. Graham and Genet have been dating steadily since they met in 2017. 

Graham and Genet are primarily popular for their work on "The Vampire Diaries," so fans of the highly successful TV show are very happy for Graham. The couple themselves are yet to reveal details about their engagement, but a People exclusive revealed the news. Read on to find out more.

According to the source for People's exclusive piece announcing the engagement, 52-year-old Genet proposed to 32-year-old Graham a few weeks ago while they were on vacation in Mexico to celebrate his birthday. 

According to the source, Graham is "madly in love and couldn't be happier." The couple has yet to announce the news themselves or reveal any details about the proposal and engagement, but Graham's rep confirmed the news to People. 

Graham, herself has retweeted several media posts announcing the engagement on her official Twitter account, so while this still isn't a personal announcement, it's good enough for her fans. 

Once the news was confirmed, many of Graham's fans took to social media to congratulate her and send their well-wishes to the couple. One tweet read, "Congrats are in order for Kat Graham and her new fiance Darren Genet!!! So happy for her!"

Graham and Genet started dating after they met on a film set back in 2017. The pair have been quite private about their relationship, but occasionally Graham has treated her fans with their public appearances and cute romantic posts. 

In December 2021, Genet and Graham attended the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra event together and posed on the red carpet. They were at the event to honor iconic jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz. 

As the year drew to a close, Genet and Graham gave fans a peek into their plans to celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah celebrations in December. The "How It Ends" actress posted a photo of her kissing Genet on Instagram with holiday-themed backdrops.

She captioned it with, "Merry Christmas everyone!!!!! Wishing you the most beautiful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa! However you celebrate, we hope your days are filled with love and happiness."

Graham shot to fame when she starred in "The Vampire Diaries" as witch Bonnie Bennet, but that's not all she has been in. She appeared in other successful film projects such as "All Eyez on Me," where she portrayed Jada Pinkett Smith, and "Honey 2." 

She also features in an upcoming romantic comedy film titled "Love in the Villa," which also features "The Umbrella Academy's" Tom Hopper and premieres on Netflix on September 1st. She previously starred in a Netflix Christmas movie titled "Operation Christmas Drop."

Genet is also known for the directorial work he did on several episodes of The Vampire Diaries. However, despite their mutual connection to the show, the couple has clarified that they didn't meet while on the CW show. 

During an interview with People, Graham spoke about the success of her role in The Vampire Diaries and shared her insight on certain topics. She also spoke about her experiences as the only actress of color in certain rooms. 

She said, "I think awareness is finally happening. I think that when I stop seeing African American men and women used as tokens, when I start seeing more Asian actors and actresses as leads, as multi-dimensional characters, when I start seeing more Latino actors, I'll feel better.

"When I start seeing more trans actors and actresses, I'll start feeling more comfortable, but I'm not comfortable saying that I've seen a lot of change," Graham continued, "I've seen things that sometimes feel inauthentic."
