Actor Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard continue to make headlines as the trial continues.
The couple is facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was the “Aquaman” actress’ abuser. Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars.
According to the New York Post, we are on day 14 of the trial. Yesterday, a psychologist testified to graphic sexual abuse that Heard told her she experienced at Depp's hands. Hughes also testified that Heard was a victim of physical and emotional violence. Hughes had diagnosed Heard with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Psychologist Breaks Down Relationship Between Heard And Elon Musk
Psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes broke down the relationship between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Amber Heard. Depp had accused Heard of cheating on him with Musk. Hughes told the jury that Heard had met the SpaceX founder at the Met Gala in early May 2016 and the two started dating shortly after.
Heard filed a temporary restraining order against the "Fantastic Beasts" actor on May 27, 2016. Hughes said that Heard told her that Heard started dating Musk "sometime after" she filed the restraining order.
However, during cross-examination, Depp's lawyer called Heard's "fear" of Depp into question. Heard had given Depp a knife that said "Until Death" engraved on it in Spanish. She questioned why Heard would give Depp a knife if she was truly afraid of him.
Hughes told the jury that "there is context" to the gift but did not go into detail about what that context was. She did explain that Heard decided to give Depp the knife with a turquoise handle because Depp was in a "turquoise phase" at the time.
Hughes also said that it had "until death" engraved on it because, she alleged, Depp told Heard that dying was the only way that she would get out of their marriage.
Amber Heard Asks Johnny Depp If He Is In 'Monster' Mode
During one audio clip that was played on Tuesday morning, Amber Heard asked Johnny Depp if he was still in "monster" mode during a conversation about their recent fights.
In the audio clip, Heard can be heard asking, "Is the monster gone? Did you put him away?"
Depp had previously testified that he would sometimes refer to his internal "monster" during heated arguments. During the audio clip, Heard can be heard saying, "When you get on that train, you get angry and stay on it for so long."
"Can you put that away?" she asks. "You don’t take my olive branches and make me feel humiliated for offering them."
The court broke for lunch around 12:45 PM ET. When the jury returns to the courtroom, Amber Heard will take the stand in her own defense. Her testimony can be read here.
