Barbados Got Its Independence In November 2021

At the time of receiving the National Hero Award, The Blast reported that Rihanna was honored with the medallion as Barbados celebrated its independence last November.

The outlet noted that she would be the second woman to receive the honor, making her official title The Right Honourable Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Despite being an independent nation from the United Kingdom since 1966, Barbados still recognized Queen Elizabeth II as its ruler.

As you might know, England first colonized the nation in 1627 and used it as a stopover on the slave trade route.

However, the Caribbean island country severed ties with Queen Elizabeth II last November, and President Mason was sworn in as the republic's first head of state.

Mason was formerly a Governor-General, otherwise referred to as the Queen's Representative. She would serve "as a primarily symbolic figurehead" behind Prime Minister Motley.

All the same, Barbados continued to be a part of the Commonwealth, consisting of 54 members who are mostly former British provinces.

The Nine-Time Grammy Award Winner Hosted A Rave-Themed Baby Shower With Partner

Rihanna has had quite the celebration in recent months as she not only got the National Hero Honor but also announced the joyful news of her pregnancy.

As ET Online shared, the record-breaker and her partner A$AP Rocky held a rave-themed baby shower in Hollywood despite their initial plans to cancel.

An informant revealed to the outlet that the couple decided to go ahead with the baby shower because "they felt it was important to surround themselves with family and close friends."

They invited loved ones from Barbados, and the source mentioned that the invite list was pretty intimate.

Rihanna always wanted a joint celebration, not just one "for the ladies" as she and her beau were in it together.

Regarding the theme, which was a far cry from a simple brunch, the source said, "Rihanna has a great sense of humor and loves to have fun."

The event was graced by several famous friends of the soon-to-be-parents as well as celebrity associates who donned very bright neon outfits.

However, guests were not allowed to record videos or take photos as they were required to stow away their mobile devices in secure bags when they first arrived.
