Howard Stern Says 'Narcissist' Johnny Depp Is 'Overreacting' In Court

It seems that Howard Stern is not Team Johnny Depp.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor filed a $50M dollar defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard for a 2018 op-ed in which she discusses being a domestic abuse survivor. Although she never identifies him by name, Depp claims that he lost work due to her op-ed, hence the lawsuit. The “Aquaman” actress filed a countersuit for $100M dollars.
Although many have shown support for the “Edward Scissorhands” actor stepping into the light as a victim of domestic violence himself, Howard Stern slammed Depp as a “narcissist.”
Howard Stern Has Some Harsh Words For Johnny Depp
The trial is being livestreamed for the public and it seems that Stern is just one of the millions who are tuning in to watch the drama unfold in the courtroom Monday through Thursday.
Depp took the stand for several days and answered questions from his own attorneys and Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn. On Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show,” Stern said that Depp was “overreacting” to questions on the stand.
According to The Wrap, he dubbed Depp a “narcissist” and said that Depp wanted the trial televised because narcissists “think that they can talk their way out of everything.”
“On the narcissism scale, I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist — and what I mean by that is, he figured 'I'll put this on TV. And because I'm so persuasive and I'm so smart, and I'm such a wonderful guy,'” Stern said.
His co-host, Robin Quivers, added, “I’m a great actor. I can act my way through anything, you know?”
“I’ll play you some clips from the Johnny Depp trial,” Stern went on. “If he isn’t acting — he’s so overacting because he’s writing his own material as he goes along.”
Howard Stern Warns That Johnny Depp’s Trial ‘Will Not Go Well’
Although Johnny Depp has been getting a lot of support, Howard Stern doesn’t think that the praise will last for long.
“That's what narcissists do: 'I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.' No you won't. This will not go well,” he warned. “It's not going well for you, it's not going well for her. It's not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children. It's just coming off really badly.”
However, users who watched the video thought it was ironic that Stern could label anyone a narcissist.
“Howard calling anyone a narcissist is truly hilarious,” one user commented.
“Howard is genuinely wrong here,” another wrote. “He’s chiming in on a subject he knows jack about.”
“Howard's on the wrong side here,” another said. “Amber lied about being abused. She should be ashamed for her behavior.”
“You are definitely wrong on this one Howard Stern,” wrote another. “At least go inform yourself before giving your opinions. Listen to the full audios and open your eyes. Johnny was the one abused.”
Johnny Depp Has Finished Testifying, Heard Will Testify Soon
During his multi-day testimony, Depp explained that he had grown up in an abusive household with an abusive mother who passed away shortly before his divorce. Many volatile text messages, video clips, and audio exchanges have been exchanged between the two.
Under oath, Depp told the jury that “Never did I myself reach the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.” He explained that his “goal” in suing Heard was “the truth” and hoped to “clear the record,” both for himself and his children.
As The Blast previously reported, Dr. Laurel Anderson had previously testified that Heard and Depp engaged in “mutual abuse” with each other. She also noted “multiple” small bruises on Heard’s face at an in-person meeting. However, several LAPD officers that showed up to the couple’s L.A. penthouse on May 21, 2016 did not see any bruises on Heard’s face.
In her July 2016 deposition, only two months after responding to the call, Officer Saenz testified that she “interviewed Ms. Heard” and “closely examined her face.” Saenz said that she “found no marks, swelling, or injury to her face.” She claims that Heard “told her she was not hurt, not was Ms. Heard making a complaint against Mr. Depp.”
