In a recent interview on CBS Mornings with host Gayle King, the rapper and singer shared her account of the unforgettable night when rapper Tory Lanez allegedly shot her in her feet outside a party in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.
According to Megan, when the police came on the scene, she had to give a totally different reason for what happened because she was scared for their lives. She said, "The police are definitely very much shoot first, ask questions after, so I'm like, it's [sic] a hot gun in the car, I'm bleeding, I've been shot, they [the police] are about to kill somebody."
She told the police that night that she "stepped on glass" because she did not want them to "kill any of us."
An emotional Megan said, "Even though this person just did this to me, my first reaction was still to try to save us. I didn't want to see anybody die. So i just said i stepped on glass."
The interview with King is the first time Megan addresses the incident outside of social media, and she explains that the incident occurred outside of the parked car in front of the party address. She also said that Lanez was "standing up over the window, shooting" at her.
"So, I get out the car, and it's like, everything happens so fast," she explains to King, "And all I hear is this man screaming, he said, 'Dance, b—!' And he started shooting. I'm just like, 'Oh my god.' He shot a couple of times."
She Got Emotional During The Interview
Although the incident happened almost two years ago, fans can tell that it is still fresh in Megan's mind because she grows visibly emotional as she recounts what happened that night to King.
The "Captain Hook" rapper also said, "I didn't even want to move. I didn't want to move too quick, 'cause I'm like, 'Oh my god, if I take the wrong step, I don't know if he could shoot something that's super important, I don't know if he could shoot me and kill me."
She became very tearful as she added, "I was really scared 'cause I had never been shot at before." Thankfully, the gunshot wounds didn't do too much damage to Megan, and she quickly recovered enough to continue performing for her fans.
Tory Lanez Got Arrested And Charged For The Incident
The police at the scene arrested Lanez at the time of the incident and charged him with carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle before releasing him on $35,000 bail shortly after his arrest.
They later charged him in October 2020 with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, a count of personal use of a firearm, and one of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
He was recently taken into custody after he violated court orders not to contact Megan or discuss any discovery in the case with outside parties. He addressed Megan directly on social media and disclosed DNA evidence through a third-party Twitter account. He was released on bond, and his next court hearing is in September.
Megan Thee Stallion Named Tory Lanez As The Shooter In An Instagram Live
The "WAP" rapper has previously opened up to fans about the shooting and how traumatic it was during an Instagram Live.
During the live, she named Lanez as her shooter, which sparked outrage amongst her fans, who then called for Lanez to be canceled.
A fan recorded some of Megan's statements during the Live, such as when she said, "You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and s—. Stop lying. Why lie? I don't understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you're dragging it."
