Actor Robert Morse passed away at age 90.

The late “Mad Men” star got his start on Broadway and originated the role of J. Pierrepont Finch in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,” for which he won a Tony Award.

Jordan Bell of the talent agency BRS/Gage confirmed that Morse “died peacefully at home after a brief illness.”

Tributes Pour In For Broadway Star Robert Morse

Larry Karaszewski, writer-producer and a vice president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, tweeted, “My good pal Bobby Morse has passed away at age 90. A huge talent and a beautiful spirit. Sending love to his son Charlie & daughter Allyn. Had so much fun hanging with Bobby over the years - filming People v OJ & hosting so many screenings (How To Succeed, Loved One, That’s Life).”

"Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander tweeted, "I was performing on Bway in a cast of 60 when Robert Morse was doing the solo show, Tru. He often came to our theater cause he wanted to be with people. He loved people and people loved him. His work was infused with joy and it was joyous to be with him. #riprobertmorse"

The Theater Lovers tweeted, "RIP Robert Morse. A theatre legend who gave prestige television one of its most magical moments, with his unmistakable showmanship and a constant, mischievous twinkle in his eye. Robert Morse succeeded by making it look like he wasn’t really trying."

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) tweeted, "We are so saddened to learn of the passing of award-winning Broadway and film star, Robert Morse. It was an honor to have spent time with this legendary performer and call him a friend of TCM. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

One fan included one of Morse's memorable lines as Bert Cooper. They tweeted, "Rest in Peace Robert Morse. Bert Cooper is one of the most surprising and thoughtful characters in fiction and I couldn't imagine anyone else playing it. I think about this line and its delivery a lot."
