Hailee Steinfeld Talks Career, New Music & 'Finding Balance' In Life

Hailee Steinfeld first gained attention as an actress with her breakout performance in the western drama film "True Grit." The film did not only get her multiple award nods, but it also opened the door for higher-profile roles in "Ender's Game," Romeo & Juliet, and the "Pitch Perfect" film series.

Steinfeld also doubles as a singer, recording a string of hit singles such as "Starving," "Most Girls," and "Let Me Go" after she appeared in the "Pitch Perfect" film.

For the 25-year-old, keeping up with a multifaceted career may be difficult and draining. As a result, she recently acknowledged in an interview with People, that identifying what keeps her balanced in her daily life is critical.

While making media rounds as a Core Hydration brand ambassador, the singer and actress spoke about the company's current campaign "Find Your Balance" and how finding a balance in her life was important given her burgeoning career.

"That is something I am actively trying to do between my professional life, my personal life, and combining both of them," Steinfeld told People in a recent interview. "Finding balance has been really a huge priority for me for a long time, especially in the last few years with the accumulation of everything. Having two shows, working on my music."

One of the shows Steinfeld mentioned was her appearance in Netflix's smash series "Arcane," where she played Violet "Vi." Although the first season concluded in November 2021, the showrunners have indicated that the actress would reprise her part in season two, which will debut after 2022. The "Hawkeye" actor will also appear in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," the sequel to Marvel's 2018 animated superhero thriller, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."

Steinfeld revealed that her strategy for maintaining balance varied from time to time but still had the end goal of making her feel stronger mentally and physically.

"What I love about the act of finding your balance [is] it doesn't necessarily have to be one specific thing. I find going for a walk, something as simple as being in nature, meditating, [and] following guided meditations [works] — I love working out. Working out is a huge part of my life."

To add to her physical routine, the actress stated that coming to the studio to work on new songs gives her a feeling of balance and calm. Steinfeld went on to say that she feels creative and free in that space, unburdened by the weights of her other job commitments.

Since her EP "Half Written Story" in 2020, the singer has been quiet on the music scene but has announced plans to debut a new song, "Coast," in conjunction with her partnership with Core Hydration.

"I'm very excited about the fact that this is just a very small taste of what's to come. I cannot wait to put music out. It's been a long time coming," she said of her upcoming song.

Steinfeld's newest single heralds the beginning of a new chapter in her music career. The singer hopes to remove her old skin and show fans a side of her talent that they haven't seen before. While the new song has been a long time coming, the "Arcane" actress thanked her fans for their patience throughout her spell of no releases.

In terms of being in a relationship, Steinfeld did not clarify whether she was now in one after splitting with Irish singer Niall Horan in 2018. However, the singer did make a few comments about what she was looking for in a partner.

She hinted at her preference for monogamous partnerships, adding that loyalty and honesty from a potential partner are two of her core beliefs. Furthermore, the partner must be self-assured and capable of managing their own life and profession while she does the same.

Despite knowing what she wants in a future companion, the actress does not intend to hurry into anything because she is now focusing on herself and adding more caps to her already growing career.
