Tyrese Gibson has been a crucial member of the Fast family since 2003. He first appeared in the franchise as Roman Pearce in 2 Fast 2 Furious, and he has since appeared in five other installments: “Fast Five,” “Fast & Furious 6,” “Furious 7,” “The Fate of the Furious,” and the most recent installment,” F9: The Fast Saga,” in 2021.
Aside from his Fast and Furious films, Gibson recently appeared in Sony/Marvel’s new dark picture, “Morbius,” portraying a law enforcement agent on the trail of a scientist turned vampire. Tyrese Gibson has now stoked speculations that he may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in another vampire-related picture, “Blade,” with a cryptic social media post.
Tyrese Gibson Shared A Cut From A Comic Book About Marvel’s Blade
On Thursday, Gibson posted a stern-faced image of himself alongside a snippet from a comic book of Marvel’s foremost vampire. The snippet read:” I’m Blade. I am the new avenger, and we have got a whole lot of vampires to kill.”
While the post itself sent out many cryptic vibes that could be alluded to for different reasons, Gibson’s caption further spiced up whatever conversation his fans were having in their mind about the post.
“We are on!!!,” the caption read.
On the one hand, there was an eerie likeness between Gibson and the figure depicted in the comic book. As a result, it’s possible that the actor was attempting to show his followers that he looked like the character in the novel. On the other hand, Gibson may be a comic book lover who was just attempting to show people that the Blade character was one of his favorites.
Fans’ Reaction To Tyrese Gibson’s Post
Although the assumptions mentioned earlier were true enough to merit the veteran actor’s post, fans’ suspicions swung in other directions, with many supposing that the actor was either hoping to be picked for the “Blade” revival or had already signed on for a role in the picture.
Fans’ suspicions were placed in writing in the post’s comment section as they stated their opinions about Gibson and his connection to the action thriller that is now in the works.
One fan wrote,” U would make a great blade.” Another follower stated, “Definitely prefer you as Blade.”
Although the majority wanted Gibson to play the part, others questioned his ability to portray the lead role and criticized his recent appearance in “Morbius.” Despite fueling the rumors, Gibson has yet to confirm his involvement with “Blade.”
Tyrese Gibson Will Not Star As The Titular Character In ‘Blade’
At the moment, the only major information available about casting is that Gibson will not be playing the role of Blade. When the Marvel Studios originally announced plans for the picture at the San Diego Comic-Con three years ago, they hired “Matrix” actor Mahershala Ali in the role.
Because the major part has already been filled, Gibson’s only other option is to a different co-starring role in the film. Many co-stars can share the limelight with the principal character, like in the pre-existing Wesley Snipes installments of the same name. As a result, the upcoming action thriller will most likely not follow a separate plotline, giving all of the cast members a chance to shine.
With that in mind, development on Blade will begin in earnest later this year, with its director Bassam Tariq already preparing to collaborate with the as-yet-unnamed cast members.
Tyrese Gibson Signed on To Star In ‘Hard Matter’
In the meantime, Gibson is slated to feature in the forthcoming action movie “Hard Matter,” directed by emerging writer and filmmaker Justin Price. Aside from the “Death Race” actor, the star-studded cast includes Oscar nominee Harvey Keitel and Frank Grillo, widely renowned for his antagonist role as Brock Rumlow in the MCU. Franzi Schissler, Nick Loren, and John Cortes also make the list of cast members.
“Hard Matter” is set in a contemporary America divided into quadrants, where a power-hungry corporation has taken over the jail system and replaced it with a one-of-a-kind system of law and order. Criminals will serve as the new law enforcement in the film, carrying out every manner of deadly retribution to reclaim their place in society.
“Hard Matter” is presently under production and will be released at a future date.
