Tyrese Gibson Will Not Star As The Titular Character In 'Blade'

At the moment, the only major information available about casting is that Gibson will not be playing the role of Blade. When the Marvel Studios originally announced plans for the picture at the San Diego Comic-Con three years ago, they hired "Matrix" actor Mahershala Ali in the role.

Because the major part has already been filled, Gibson's only other option is to a different co-starring role in the film. Many co-stars can share the limelight with the principal character, like in the pre-existing Wesley Snipes installments of the same name. As a result, the upcoming action thriller will most likely not follow a separate plotline, giving all of the cast members a chance to shine.

With that in mind, development on Blade will begin in earnest later this year, with its director Bassam Tariq already preparing to collaborate with the as-yet-unnamed cast members.
