"Outer Banks" star Chase Stokes hints that he is taking a break from social media after receiving several death threats and violent messages over a picture he posted of himself and his younger sister.
Stokes took to his Instagram page to slam the fans who attacked and threatened him and made it clear that he will always put his family first no matter how his fans and haters take it. He also advised them to unfollow him. Read on to learn more about the threats, the photo with his sister, and Stokes’ relationship status.
Chase Stokes Posted A Selfie With His Sister
Stokes recently posted a selfie of himself and his younger sister, Rylie Walker. In the photo, which mostly showed Walker’s face, they leaned into each other with smiles on their faces. He captioned the cute photo with “Surprised me. Love you, @ryliewalk.”
For some reason, the photo angered several fans, who probably thought Stokes and Walker had a romantic connection and decided to send death threats and violent messages to the “The Beach House” actor.
Walker is Stokes’ half-sister from his Dad’s second marriage, but they are obviously very close, just like he is with all his siblings. The 22-year-old is also a model and posts a lot on her Instagram about her brothers and family.
Stokes Slammed Attackers On His Instagram
Shortly after posting the selfie of him and Walker, the Outer Banks actor posted a message on his story, slamming fans and social media users who sent him death threats and violent messages over the photo.
He wrote, “The fact that I can’t post a picture with my baby sister without death threats is just f--king absurd. Get a grip. Family always comes first and at the end of the day if you don’t know my sister and have the audacity to send me horrific messages then just go ahead and click that unfollow.”
He also alluded that he would be going off from his social media by writing, “I will forever be a person who ALWAYS puts my family first,” he noted. “With that being said, and with that dumb s--t. I’m out. See you when I see you.”
His Fans Also Called Out The Attackers
After Stokes posted the message outing his attackers, his fans defended him on Instagram and Twitter and called for the haters who sent the death threats and attacked Stokes to back off.
One tweet read, “The fact that Chase can’t post a pic of his little sister without receiving death threats is f--king immature. Y’all need to stfu and leave him and his family alone. I’m truly sorry.”
Another of Stokes’ fans tweeted, “idgaf what y’all feel towards Chase Stokes. Sending him and his sister death threats is weirdo s--t.” Many more showed their support for Stokes in the comment section of these tweets.
Stokes Was Dating Madelyn Cline
Stokes was recently in a relationship with his co-star from Outer Banks, actress Madelyn Cline. Fans of the show were extremely excited when they announced their relationship. The couple broke up in November 2021, shortly after they celebrated their first year anniversary.
However, the press has spotted Stokes and Cline out together severally, such as at the after party of the People’s Choice Awards in 2021. An observer told E! News that they were cozied up in a booth and that “Maddie’s body was totally turned into Chase, and he listened intently, and she spoke and animatedly waved her arms. They were looking very close and cozy.”
In February this year, Stokes and Cline had their fans and the internet buzzing when they were photographed holding hands in the promo photos for season three of Outer Banks. This is just one of the many hints that things may not be completely over between the co-stars.
