A shooting went down at DaBaby‘s North Carolina residence in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 13, and one person has been confirmed injured.
The news of the shooting was confirmed via a press release by the Troutman Police Department, who responded at the scene to escalate matters.
Shooting At DaBaby’s North Carolina Home
The press release read revealed that around 7:45 pm on Wednesday, officers from the Troutman Police Department responded to a shooting report at the rapper’s residence.
”Officers arrived on scene where they found one subject suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The subject was transported by Iredell County EMS to a medical facility for treatment,” the statement read on Facebook.
The officials didn’t share details of the wounded person or those involved in the shooting due to the ongoing investigation, so it’s unsure if DaBaby was injured or the one who pulled the trigger.
Nevertheless, the authorities assured that the shooting was an “isolated event” and posed no threat to the community at large.
Another update on the incident shared by The Shade Room revealed that the shooting went down near the football field on the rapper’s property.
The victim, who was said to have suffered “non-life threatening wounds to the lower extremity,” had allegedly trespassed onto the property.
The statement claims that “a very tense 911 call” went down as “telecommunicators were instructing the caller to secure his weapon before responders arrived and that he refused, stating there could be more intruders.”
The “ROCKSTAR” rapper is yet to speak up on the incident, but reports claim that the Iredell County services have attended to reports about DaBaby’s address about 31 times in the space of a year.
The North Carolina residence is a 5-bedroom, 8-bathroom mansion that sits on 9 acres and boasts a pool, a theater, and stadium floodlights.
A Fan curved the “BOP” Rapper
The shooting incident comes about a week after the Cleveland native made headlines for trying to kiss a fan.
As The Blast reported, a video of the awkward interaction made rounds on the internet, causing a brutal backlash from netizens. In the clip, the rapper born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk looked tipsy as he was approached by a group of elated fans outside a venue.
The thrilled fans asked the rapper to sign autographs and take pictures. While attending to his fan base, DaBaby reached for a woman and grabbed her head, trying to pull her into a kiss.
He attempted to kiss the disinterested fan about twice, not registering the female fan’s displeasure until she turned her face the other way to completely avoid his lips.
Per reports, the video was taken in February but only went viral this month. Fans were outraged by the incident and blasted the rapper on social media for “harassment.”
One user wrote, “He’s out of control ALL THE TIME.” “Like why he acting like that?” while another added, “Reason 729 why I stopped listening to him, he thinks he can get whatever and he can not!”
DaBaby Clapped Back At The Backlash
Although the rapper’s actions looked questionable in the viral clip, DaBaby didn’t mind the outrage and insisted he did nothing wrong.
He took to his Instagram Story to repost the video and denied trying to kiss the fan. Instead, he described the clip and “cap a** s**t,” asking who was making up such stories to paint him in a bad light.
In a follow-up post, he shared another clip, this time of him and a female fan, who looked enthusiastic, suggesting she was the one in the clip and she was on good terms with him.
This isn’t the first time the rapper has gotten in hot water for a fan-related incident. Earlier this year, DaBaby welcomed a fan onstage to grind on him during a concert in Boston.
While performing on stage, he invited the fan to hump him as he lay in a bed, resulting in controversy and anger from fans who tagged it disrespectful.
