Actress Amy Schumer had some recent words of encouragement for some fellow female comics.
The “Inside Amy Schumer” star recently co-hosted the 94th annual Academy Awards ceremony on March 27 alongside Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. This past weekend, she stopped by an open might night called “Unladylike” at Stand Up NY to give advice to aspiring female comedians.
An attendee who was at the open mic night dished what the “Trainwreck” star shared with her awestruck audience with Page Six.

One of the attendees told the outlet that “Amy asked the female open mic-ers while she was on stage if they had any questions after her set. Most of the questions were along the lines of advice on being a female comic in a male-dominated industry.”
She said that Amy’s main piece of advice was to “keep going.”
“She offered words of encouragement, like the fact that you’re already at an open mic is wonderful,” the attendee continued. “She was saying that they should keep going, be prepared, and have different skills in comedy like performing, writing, and directing.”
Amy definitely knows a little something about being a multi-talent. She wrote, starred in, and co-produced her 2015 movie “Trainwreck.” She also executively produced 2018’s “I Feel Pretty.” She also wrote and executive produced her new Hulu show, “Life & Beth.”
According to the source, Amy did not mention anything about Will Smith, Chris Rock, or the Oscars ceremony, where she has been accused of stealing jokes.
Amy Schumer Says She's Funny Enough & Doesn't Need To Steal Jokes!
During the 94th annual Academy Awards last month, Amy joked about “Don’t Look Up” star and climate change activist Leonardo DiCaprio, who seems to have a penchant for dating younger women. “He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends,” she quipped at the star-studded awards ceremony.
However, many fans were quick to point out that the joke was nearly identical to a tweet posted by Nicole Conlan on December 23, 2021. Nicole’s tweet reads, “Leonardo DiCaprio is so passionate about climate change because he wants to leave a better word for his girlfriends.”

During a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live!” with Andy Cohen, Amy chalked up the similarities in the jokes to a coincidence and denied that she had lifted the joke from the viral tweet. “I’m funny enough,” she told Cohen. “I don’t need to steal s---.”
Although she has been accused of stealing jokes in the past, Amy said that she doesn’t even go on Twitter.
“Well, I would like to say, I haven’t personally been on Twitter,” she said. “I’ve had my assistant do it, just so I can remain alive and not kill myself. And, also, that joke was written by Suli McCullough.”
“But I thank you guys, always, for making sure that I don’t start thievery,” she added.
