Britney Spears is not letting her mom get a penny from her wealth!
The Princess of Pop recently refused her mother Lynne Spears‘ request to have her pay the exuberant attorney fee accumulated in the “Toxic” singer’s conservatorship case.
This opposition marked the latest move in the entertainer’s ongoing legal battle with her family, which began in an all-out war to free the icon from her father James Spears’ control.
Britney Spears Opposes Her Mother’s Petition To Have Her Pay $660K In Legal Fees
As reported by INDEPENDENT, Lynne filed a request to have her daughter pay a substantial fee of $660,000 (£460,00) in legal charges.

The “A Mother’s Gift” author claimed the hefty bill came from her efforts to end her daughter’s conservatorship, which was overseen by James.
According to the official court documents, Britney opposed her mother’s request, arguing that the petition aimed to exploit the “Gimme More” singer. The opening statement read,
“Lynne Spears and her counsel seek payment of legal fees and costs – from Britney Spears – of more than $660,000 (£460,00). Britney Spears opposes the Petition in its entirety.”
The filing revealed that the”Toxic” songstress has been supporting her family as the sole breadwinner for decades, including footing the bills for Lynne’s expensive home in Kentwood, Louisiana.
The document noted that the pop icon’s mother has been residing on the property for years without paying for expenses such as “utilities, telephone services, insurance, property taxes, pest control, and more.”
These services alongside repairs and maintenance fees for the house have cost the “Crossroads” actress “approximately $1.7m (£1.3m).”
Lynn’s petition came before the end of her daughter’s conservatorship in November 2021. At the time, the 66-year-old filed to have her daughter’s estate foot the costs she incurred during the case.
The mother-of-three argued that her intentions were pure, stating that she requested the money to help the “Criminal” songstress “achieve independence from her conservator father.”
This conservatorship controlled Britney’s life and assets for over 13 years until the Grammy winner was freed by a judge in 2021.

According to the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer, her father allegedly abused her using his role as conservator, including illegally spying on her.
However, James has repeatedly denied these accusations. Similar to Lynne’s request, the father-of-three has also asked his daughter to pay for his legal expenses.
At the moment, no decisions have been made on the ongoing case as further hearings would be held in July.
Lynne Spears Wanted Access To Her Daughter’s Trust Fund
Back in 2020, The Blast reported that the pop star’s mother attempted to include herself in her daughter’s finances, specifically gaining access to Britney’s multi-million dollar Trust fund.
In 2004, Britney filed the “SJB Revocable Trust” in court to ensure that her material and financial assets would be efficiently managed and distributed to selected parties upon her death.
However, in 2008, the Billboard chart-topper was removed as trustee for the fund after being placed under a personal and financial conservatorship.
No news was heard about the trust until July 13, 2020, when Lynne’s lawyer filed to be included as an “interested person in all matters about the SJB Revocable Trust.”

As covered by The Blast, the 40-year-old shared the news on social media via a lengthy post, expressing the reasons for her upcoming autobiography.
The “Till the World Ends” artist wrote, “I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life… I’ve never been able to express openly !!!”
She continued, “I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I was extremely young when those events took place …”
The “Longshot” star noted that addressing her past may seem “irrelevant to most” but she needed to share the hardships caused by her family.
She then claimed that the Spears clan belittled her for years, resulting in the emotional traumas she planned on sharing in her memoir.
