Kris Jenner Recalls Reaction To Caitlyn's Transition, Their Present Relationship

Kris Jenner recently spoke up about how she responded to the news of Caitlyn Jenner's transition and how their friendship has since blossomed.

The process was not easy for the Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, formerly known as Bruce, but it was also difficult for her family.

Caitlyn's ex-wife, Kris, struggled with coming to terms with the drastic change, as seen in the concluded "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" series.

On Wednesday, April 6, Kris appeared in a candid interview with "Good Morning America" to recount how she and her family first responded to the news of Caitlyn's transition.

The talk show shared a clip of the interview on their official Twitter page alongside a link to the discussion and a caption that read:

"@KrisJenner on her relationship with Caitlyn Jenner: “We’re fine. We’re friends… It’s settled down a lot. I think it was a big shock.” #TheKardashians."

The former wife of Robert Kardashian recalled how surprising and frightening it was for her family to hear that the person they knew as Bruce would be coming into a new identity. 

Kris explained that nobody in their household ever had to navigate a transition or expected that such a day would come. She explained:

"I think it was a big shock. It's a scary thing to go through because you know nothing about it. It's a subject I never thought that I would ever have to directly deal with [or] confront [or] be understanding about. Something that I didn't, you know, understand."

Since reacting to the news, things have progressed positively between the former lovers and their famous family members.

Renowned host Robin Roberts asked Kris what the current state of her relationship with Caitlyn, who she was with for two decades and two years was. She replied:

"We're fine. Yeah, we're friends. And I see her when she's at a family thing, so it's, you know, settled down a lot."

Although Kris says things are fine between her and Caitlyn, the Olympian wishes things were even better between them.

Last November, The Blast disclosed that, while on an episode of the Australian reality series, “Big Brother VIP," Caitlyn got candid about her relationship with the momager.

Following the announcement of their dissolution of marriage in October 2013, Caitlyn publicly declared her new status as a transgender woman two years later.

Tensions rose to an all-time high between “The Secrets of My Life” author, her ex-wife, and the rest of the Kardashian daughters when she published her tell-all memoir in 2017.

In a documented episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Kris can be seen telling Khloe and Kim Kardashian:

"I read it, and basically, the only nice thing she had to say was that I was great socially at a party one time. Everything she says is all made up. Why does everything have to be that Kris is such a b***h and an a**hole?"

In "The Secrets of My Life," Caitlyn also alleged that the 66-year-old former spouse was more aware of the gender identity crisis she was facing than she let on.

Despite the severity of the accusations, all parties seem to have now put the past behind them. However, Caitlyn wishes things were even better between her and Kris. She said:

"I would say from my standpoint. Our relationship is not as good as it should be. I don’t have any hard feelings towards her. I wish it was closer, but it’s not."

A Big Brother member asked if Caitlyn had any "misgivings" towards Kris, and she replied that that was an understatement. Caitlyn expanded upon her sentiments by clarifying that there was no bad blood between her and Kris Jenner. 

Yet the former athlete wanted things to improve for the benefit of their offspring Kendall, 26, and Kylie, 24. She buttressed:

“Our relationship is okay. I think it could be better just because of the kids. It’s always the way when you have that. It’s all about how the mother and father how they get along together. Is it easy? Is it good? Do they see each other? Is there any tension?"
