Paramore Fans Are Confused By Hayley Williams’ Throwback Photo

On April 4, Hayley Williams posted a sepia-toned image of her with the band when she still had her dark red hair. Paramore’s Twitter account also reposted the image, adding, “happy 20th birthday to our friendship.”

The image, which Loudwire says was taken in 2007, shows Hayley alongside drummer Zac Farro and guitarist Taylor York in their early days, only two years after their debut album “All We Know Is Falling” came out in 2005.

However, it’s not clear why Hayley decided to break her self-imposed social media hiatus to share the image now.

It is not immediately clear why the “Misery Business” singer decided to delete her social media account in October 2021. According to her social media pages, she unfollowed all but two accounts: the official Paramore account, and Good Dye Young, a vegan and cruelty-free line of hair dye that Williams, herself, launched.

At the time, all photos and videos were deleted from her page, leaving only a good-bye message to her fans. The statement read:

“I’ve been on the internet and more specifically, social media since I was 15. Maybe even younger. It started with the blog sites… then MySpace. Then Paramore became a thing and social media wasn’t even just for my own personal use anymore but it was part of the job. It has been a useful and most beautiful part of the job. I crave connection and the internet is a pretty good tool for that when it’s not tearing us apart.”

“The thing is, connection is and will always be a part of my job (thankfully). As for my own personal experience with social media, I just don’t want it anymore. I’ve carefully considered this decision for almost a year now. Now I know for sure that my desire to move away from personal accounts (yes, even my finsta) is based on nothing more than my interest in keeping a boundary between a public and a private life… and wanting to spend more time looking up and out, rather than down.”

“No judgment to anyone who loves their social media. Just a huge encouragement to anyone needing permission to create more boundaries and space to grow — sometimes ‘no’ is the kindest thing you can say… to anyone!… even yourself.”

“Finally, if you’re looking for me, don’t look here. Follow @paramore.”

However, that post has since been deleted. Fans are wondering if perhaps Hayley is making her way back to social media again now that new Paramore music is supposed to be coming this year.

Believe it or not, the band's last album was “After Laughter,” which was released in 2017. In January of this year, Hayley revealed that she had reunited with guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Hayley revealed that their new album is still untitled. Although they finished their songwriting sessions in Nashville, they flew out to record in a new studio in California.

Although Williams admitted that she and York had been taking a look back at their earliest influences, she doesn’t think that Paramore will release a “comeback ‘emo’ record.” Instead, they are hoping to grow into a new sound that their fans might not have heard before.

“The music we were first excited by wasn’t exactly the kind of music we went on to make,” Hayley said. “Our output has always been all over the place and with this project, it’s not that different. We’re still in the thick of it but some things have remained consistent from the start.”

The first thing that the sixth album does is “put more emphasis on the guitar.” The band realized that the second rule to making a great album is that “Zac should go as Animal as he wants with drum takes.”

Fans don't know what musical direction Paramore's sixth album will take but they can't wait! No release date or title has yet to be announced, but fans are hopeful that they'll get some good news soon!
