Family and loved ones are all that matter to Jake Gyllenhaal as the "Love & Other Drugs" actor recently appreciated his father's support during the premiere of his new movie "Ambulance."

Jake was born to director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner. However, his parents separated after 32 years of marriage.

Despite the split, the 41-year-old remains close to his father, and he told an ET's correspondent how much his father's support at the movie premiere meant to him.

At the movie's debut in Los Angeles, Jake told Will Marfuggi, "I think if we've all learned one thing, no matter what we do and how blessed we are in our lives, the only thing that really matters is family and the people that we love."

He continued, "And to me, of course, it's incredible to be here, and it's like, so amazing to be in this big movie and to be a part of it, but seeing my dad on this carpet, like, seeing my dad anywhere, but like here, just his support means everything to me."

The movie icon went on to state that family was everything as his experiences have guided him to the people he loves and those who love him.

"Ambulance" is directed by Michael Bay and based on a 2005 Danish movie of the same name. It is about a war veteran joining forces with his adoptive brother, a longtime felon, to rob a Los Angeles bank of $32 million.

The money was to cover the medical bills of the veteran's wife's surgery, which cost $231,000. However, the plan got out of hand, and they had to hijack an ambulance carrying an injured cop and an EMT worker to escape.

Jake, who played the role of the adoptive brother Danny Sharp, has been a passionate fan of the movie's director, and he recalled the first Bay-directed movie he saw that made him a fan.

He shared, "Well, The Rock. I remember 'The Rock' so intently. I remember that last scene in 'The Rock,' and I remember probably watching that movie, and I know – it was Nick Cage, and Sean Connery were a close second, but it was Ed Harris, to me, that I was like, 'He's just so cool.'"

Directing movies is not something the celebrity wants to sign up for yet as he believed he needed to have the mindset and be able to recognize stories that had to be told.

However, he admires people who chose to direct movies like Bay and his sister Maggie who is working on her film "The Lost Daughter."

Jake further said of going behind the camera, "When that time comes, it'll come, and I'll know it, but you have to have great presumption to pull that off, so we'll see."

The Academy Award Nominee Says He Is More Interested In Love, Friends, And Family

Jake admitted to being ready to focus on his personal life as he had gotten to the point where he needed to be less committed to his career.

According to The Blast's report in 2020, "The Day After Tomorrow" actor mentioned that life was fleeting, and he was more interested in love, his friends, and family.

Speaking of love, Jake has never been married, and his past relationships have not been as successful as his career. However, his relationship with model Jeanne Cadieu appears pretty serious.

The couple has been together since late 2018, and they are still going strong despite their 16-year age gap.

Jake has always been tight-lipped about his past and present relationships. However, a source revealed that he and Cadieu took things slowly but are now "pretty serious."
