'Seinfeld' Fans Share Their Favorite Estelle Harris Mrs. Constanza Moments
By Kristin Myers on April 3, 2022 at 10:30 AM EDT
On April 2, Estelle Harris sadly passed away.
The 93-year-old actress passed away on Saturday night of natural causes in Palm Desert, California, just two days shy of her 94th birthday on April 4. She was born on April 4, 1928.
Her son, Glen Harris told Deadline, “It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25 pm. Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy, and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”
Harris appeared as Mrs. Costanza on 27 episodes of “Seinfeld” from 1992 to 1998. Her character had been named Estelle even before she was given the part, which is why she may have seemed so naturally suited for the role. She first appeared in “The Contest” when she ends up in the hospital after she walks in on George losing the contest. As always, hilarity continues to ensue even there.
