Actor Bruce Willis no longer holds a Razzie Award for worst performance.

The 2022 Razzie Awards devoted an entire category to the actor, called “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in 2021.” Out of the eight movies nominated: American Seige, Apex, Cosmic Sin, Deadlock, Fortress, Midnight in the Switchgrass, Out of Death, and Survive the Game, it was his role in Cosmic Sin which won the Razzie.

The show’s co-founders, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, released a statement that read “After much thought and consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently disclosed diagnosis.”

The statement continued, “If someone’s medical condition is a factor in their decision making and/or their performance, we acknowledge that it is not appropriate to give them a Razzie.”

The Razzies Are ‘Truly Sorry For Bruce Willis’ Diagnosed Condition’

In a tweet, they wrote, “The Razzies are truly sorry for #BruceWillis diagnosed condition. Perhaps this explains why he wanted to go out with a bang in 2021. Our best wishes to Bruce and family.”

However, many fans still felt that it was in poor taste.

Screenwriter Gary Whitta, who has worked on various “Star Wars” projects, commented, “Go f--- yourselves.”

Writer Dennis Perkins wrote, “You’re garbage and always have been, but sure.”

“Wow, very classy,” another wrote. “So were you the only ones unaware that Bruce had been having problems since 2015? That he was doing these quick movies specifically for the money while he still could? That his family mattered more to him than reputation?”

“You should retire the category and also your whole thing because it's way more cringe than any of the movies you're dunking on,” another added.

The Razzies Respond To Bruce Willis Backlash, Claim They Were Unaware Of Aphasia Diagnosis

In a follow-up tweet, they wrote, “To clarify, we heard about Willis’ diagnosis at the same time everyone else did…just this morning.”

“You know, maybe you folks need your own Razzie next year?” one user asked.

“We literally don’t care,” another wrote. “Apologize for the poor taste ‘joke’ and delete the previous tweet.”

“‘He wanted to go out with a bang in 2021,” another user wrote. “THAT was the problem with your shameful tweet. Stop avoiding accountability. Apology, delete the previous tweet, and be more sensitive next time.”

“There’s still time to delete your tweet…” another commented.

“The existence of the Razzies is unjustifiable and has been for a long time,” another said.

“Sigh, that original ignorant tweet is still up,” another noted. “Being a decent human being really should not be this hard.”
