Sarah Jessica Parker and her actor husband, Matthew Broderick, showed up for the Broadway premiere of "Plaza Suite," after it was delayed for two years due to the pandemic.
In an exclusive interview with E! News, the "Sex And The City" star opened up on how it's to work with her husband.
"I mean, the best part is the experience in its totality," SJP said. "It's a gift. There's no words. It's a privilege, sincerely."
She added, "working with my husband is extraordinary."
However, she's not the only one who shares the same sentiments. In 2020, Matthew Broderick also disclosed about acting alongside his wife while appearing on SiriusXM's "Quarantined with Bruce."
"You know, speaking of how talented my wife is, I should also say that getting to do this play, even though we only just did it in Boston for a little while, she was so, so good at it," he said. "And I was just reminded of how funny and smart and what a great comic actor she is — or actor, never mind the comic part. She's very good at it. So I hope everybody gets to see her do it."
Before this, the pair had worked on several other projects, such as "The Producers."
The Pair Bring Their Sizzling Romance Into 'Plaza Suite'
The couple, who star as three different couples in the newly released John Benjamin Hickey-directed Broadway play, bring in their real-life romance for other characters of the movie.
During Parker's speech, she expressed gratitude to her audience for their patience, kindness, and warmth.
"So many of you have been waiting two years for the theater to return. You've stood by and have been patient and enthusiastic and optimistic and we simply wanted to thank you because by doing that, you have supported our entire theater community, and that means all of the people you don't see back here, and all of the people you've met in the front."
She continued, "We are eternally grateful. So, on behalf of my brilliant husband and our beautiful cast, on behalf of every person working in the theater in New York City, we thank you and we love you."
Their Children Were Around For Plaza's Suite Premiere
The famous couple has managed to keep their children out of the spotlight for a long time, only giving a glimpse of them when necessary. However, the pair's three children– Twins Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, and James Wilkie– made a rare appearance for their parent's Broadway premiere.
The siblings posed together on the red carpet, separate from their parents. While James wore a black suit and tie, Loretta and Tabitha rocked a pink tulle and a black leather dress, respectively.
The actress posted a sneak peek of her multi-colored Prabal Gurung dress ahead of the event. She posed beside the fireplace with her back to the camera.
"Just wait until you see the front. No words right now. I'm sure they'll come later. See you in Suite 719. X, SJ," she captioned the image.
In addition to their children, Parker and Broderick had other guests in attendance, including Norm Lewis, Cynthia Nixon, Darren Criss, Andy Cohen, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, and more.
During a 2020 Interview with ET, the actress disclosed why she and her husband wanted to work on "Plaza Suite."
"When we re-read Plaza Suite, we were just reminded how freaking funny it was. How funny it is but also how moving it is," Parker reminiscences. "How much it is about relationships and marriage and milestones and betrayal. How much it is about marriages at different parts, at different points of years spent together and the absurdity of all of it."
They Met Through Parker's Family Theater Company
When Parker initially met Broderick, the latter was starting to make a name for herself. According to IMDb, she landed roles on "Equal Justice" and "A Year In The Life" at the time.
When they met, Broderick was assigned to work on a play in 1991. This play, however, was a direct project from Naked Angels Theater Company, which Parker's family owned.
In an interview with New York Times, Parker explained that Broderick instantly grabbed her attention. After a few backs and forth, Broderick eventually asked her for a date.
"He left a very charming, very self-effacing message on the machine," Parker explained. "You know, 'Hi, it's Matthew Broderick.'"
The Couple Have Been Married For Several Years
The duo's wedding was such a shock that the 100 guests invited to the party were shocked to know that it was a wedding. Also, Parker donned a black wedding dress.
"I never thought about a wedding dress. Never. Had not one daydream about it," she told People. "At one point I just simply remember thinking, 'God, I really hope he asks me to marry him.' I don't know when or why. It was fairly early on."
On her choice of color, she admitted that there was little planning behind it.
"I wish it was because I was a badass," she said per Bazaar. "I just was too embarrassed to spend any time looking for a wedding dress. There was a store that I liked that I knew, and I just went and got whatever they had hanging."
