Cole Sprouse Admits Lili Reinhart Romance Was 'As Real As It Gets'

Cole Sprouse recently made very rare comments about his ex-girlfriend and “Riverdale” co-star, Lili Reinhart.

The couple, who fans dubbed “Sprousehart,” were the envy of every young relationship in Hollywood before calling it quits in March 2020.

The on-screen couple turned IRL couple won the hearts of many during their three-year relationship from 2017 to 2020.

Cole confirmed the breakup in April 2020 writing on Instagram, “Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March. What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I’ll say about it, anything else you hear doesn’t matter."

Since then, the former Disney Channel star has moved on with a couple of women, but more recently he’s been dating Ari Fournier.

Ari is a model and the two struck up a relationship in March 2021. What tipped off fans about the relationship was photographs taken of the pair in Canada.

In a new interview with GQ Hype, Cole opens up, albeit briefly, about his relationship with Lili and his new romance with Ari.

When speaking about his relationship with Lili, he explained that it was a very public one with “all this public currency.”

He didn’t dive deeper into what he meant by “public currency,” but I can assume it meant that them as a couple made people money.

And that anything they wanted to keep private was hard to do given their level of fame.

He did clarify that their relationship was “as real as it gets.”

Another potential reason for their split could be due to the CW leaning into their relationship as a promotion opportunity for “Riverdale.”

This is something Cole detested doing in public.

With that relationship in the rearview, Cole is focused on his current relationship with Ari and moving forward with her and their new dog, Bear.

Unfortunately, information about their relationship has had to be kept private due to online trolls who don’t support Cole and Ari’s relationship.

He told the outlet that even if he wanted to share pictures of Ari and him on Instagram, “followers report everything about Ari and me as bullying, and it gets taken down pretty immediately. Even on my other friends' accounts, it gets taken down.”

Back in July, Cole capitalized on troll and online hate by confirming his relationship with the supermodel on Instagram.

He wrote on his IG Story, “Time to piss off the 14yos again,” followed by photos of Ari.

Not only did Cole seemingly know that he would anger many fans who idolize him, but given his sense of humor, he’s fully aware that his fanbase consists of much younger fans due to his past on the Disney Channel and his current role as Jughead Jones on “Riverdale.”

Prior to his relationship with Ari and following his breakup with Lili, Cole had been linked to model Reina Silva, and Kaia Gerber for a moment in 2020.

Many “Riverdale” fans were big time shippers of ‘Sprousehart’ and when they made their breakup public it caused a wave of backlash.

Some fans even believed that Cole cheated on Lili with Kaia, but the actor was sure to shut those rumors down.

He took to Instagram, telling fans QUOTE, “I tolerate a lot of rumors and slander from people online claiming to be my fans. Fans who feel entitled to my privacy precisely because I never indulge them. But attacking my friends, baseless accusations, leaking my address, and sending death threats are all qualities of insanity and fanaticism. Choose humanity, stop being clowns.”
