Ricky Gervais is as famous for having no restraints with his public jokes as he is for hosting the Golden Globes five times.
The British star is fond of roasting Hollywood celebrities but clarified that he would never make fun of Jada Pinkett Smith‘s medical condition.
Ricky Gervais Says He Would Never Joke About Jada’s Alopecia
Gervais has some lines he will never cross when it comes to being comedic, such as making fun of Jada’s alopecia which caused her severe hair loss.
While testing out new content at a show in Highgate, North London, Gervais gave his opinion on the Oscars debacle, clarifying that he would never have joked about Jada’s medical battle, according to Mirror.
Gervais constantly went viral for his comments on Hollywood celebrities during his Golden Globes hosting season. He noted that he also trended during the Academy Awards incident. However, it had nothing to do with him.
This trend got the comedian wondering what he would have talked about as the Oscars host, and he admitted that he would have steered clear of Rock’s joke.
While presenting an award that night, the “Fargo” actor poked fun at the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” lead’s wife saying, “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
Will then chose to walk up on stage and smack Rock across the face, to the surprise of the audience and viewers worldwide. Gervais said:
“I would not have made a joke about his wife’s hair. I would have made a joke about her boyfriend.”

“The Office” star referred to 2020 when the “Aladdin” actor and his wife made headlines after August Alsina came out with allegations against Jada.
Alsina alleged that he and the “Red Table Talk” co-host were in a relationship. She clarified that they had an “entanglement,” a term that became viral during that period.
Gervais joked that he might change his upcoming show title from Armageddon to Alopecia due to all the drama surrounding the celebrity couple.
Many A-Listers found themselves at the mercy of the comedian’s jokes when he hosted the Golden Globes in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2020.
While poking fun at the almost 3-hour run time of Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” during his opening monologue in 2020, the outlet shared that Gervais also came after two stars. He said,
“Leo DiCaprio attended the premiere of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ and by the end, his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew is like, ‘Come on, mate.'”
In 2011, the comedian took a jab at Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp for their romantic thriller, saying, “It seems like everything this year was three-dimensional, except the characters in ‘The Tourist.’”
Will Smith Faces Possible Oscar Barring Following Chris Rock Slap
Will is still in hot waters over his unexpected actions at the 2022 Oscars. Although he apologized on live TV while accepting his award for “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for his performance in “King Richard.”
The Blast disclosed that though the actor retains his Academy Award, he may have lost his opportunities to win another trophy in the future.
Matt Belloni of Puck News broke the news on Tuesday, March 29, appearing on the “TODAY” show, saying that the Academy is very upset and appalled by what Will did on stage.
This debacle may mean that this film “Emancipation” may no longer be considered for nominations owing to a predicted snub from the Academy.
Belloni continued that the “I am Legend” actor will have to face punishment for what he did, but he does not think he will lose his Oscar for “King Richard.”
Although he is safe with his victory, Will may still be unable to snag another award for a considerable period. As the Puck News personality said:
“But I would not be surprised if they suspend him [from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences] for a year, six months — really give him a public lashing, so to speak, where he will feel something and not be able to get a nomination for a movie that he has coming out next year.”
