Megyn Kelly opens up about her youngest child, Thatcher's Ski injury!
The former news host recently experienced a mother's worst fear — the endangerment of her 8-year-old son's life.
On Monday, March 28, the mother-of-three shared details about the heart-wrenching incident on her SiriusXM podcast, "The Megyn Kelly Show."
Megyn Kelly Got Emotional As She Recalled Thatcher's Terrifying Hospitalization
Last week, the former Fox News host missed some episodes of her podcast due to a family emergency involving the baby of the house, Thatcher.
The "Megyn Kelly Today" star explained that the 8-year-old suffered injuries from a severe fall during their family's ski trip in Montana.
The journalist began, "Thank God he's okay. He's a good skier. He's been skiing since he was really little. He was on an advanced run and did the run just fine, skied it just fine."
However, the fun moment turned gruesome after a "cave-like structure" on the run caught the little boy's eye, and he attempted hiking to the spot.
The 51-year-old noted that Thatcher's ski instructor was with him when he tried reaching the cave, where other skiers often took breaks on the advanced run.
As for what went wrong, the "America Live with Megyn Kelly" alum stated that several factors were responsible for the little adventurer's mishap.
Instead of using his skis, the 8-year-old wore his ski boots for the hike, but he did not have the strength to complete this task. In the Illinois native's words:
"Again, he's only 8. It was the end of the day, and he was tired, and apparently, he didn't have the strength to make the climb that's necessary to get into this little cave, and he fell."

The political commentator was on her way to get a massage when she got a call from her husband Douglas Brunt about Thatcher's accident.
Kelly recalled her spouse stating that their son was hurt and needed to be checked out at the hospital. Upon hearing the news, the mother-of-three rushed to her 8-year-old side.
However, the blonde beauty didn't know how bad the fall was until Thatcher explained inside the ambulance that "he fell 10 feet "and landed on some rocks."
After performing a CT scan at the hospital, doctors discovered the severity of the boy's injuries. The 8-year-old suffered internal bleeding and three tears in his spleen, resulting in his transfer to a different hospital.
There the journalist's son was placed in the ICU, and physicians warned the mother that the boy's spleen might be removed if the bleeding didn't stop.
Initially, the "Megyn Kelly Presents" star wasn't worried until her doctors at home advised the former news anchor not to let Thatcher lose his spleen.
Things got hectic on the third day as the 8-year-old's heart rate and pulse rose while his blood pressure declined.
The parents were at a loss on how to ease their son's pain and didn't want to subject him to more CT scans. Thankfully the little boy's condition improved during his five days of hospitalization.

The doting mother confessed that she didn't realize how agonizing the experience had been until she left the hospital with her family.
As shown on Kelly's Instagram, the family's ski trip was in honor of Presidents' Day weekend. The proud Americans marked the occasion by wearing matching jerseys designed with the faces and names of different presidents.
About The Former "America Live" Host's Three Children
As reported by Closer Weekly, the former "Today" star and her husband have three beautiful children named Edward, Yardley, and Thatcher Bates.
After tying the knot in 2008, the couple welcomed their first child and son Edward, a.k.a Yates, in September 2009. In her book "Settle for More," Kelly described the boy as her husband's mini-me.
"The Kelly File" alum explained that most people called Yates her twin; however, in her eyes, the boy was a "mini Doug and a sweet old soul."
In 2011, the pair's second child and daughter Yardley arrived. The girl has since become her mother's partner at important events like the Fortune Most Powerful Women’s conference.
Two years later, Thatcher was born "at eight pounds, two ounces" and has been captured on several occasions spending quality time with his mother.
