The 2018 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony Brings Back the Shirtless Tongan Flag Bearer

Guess who’s back?

Everybody’s favorite shirtless guy from Tonga, Pita Taufatofua, returned to the spotlight on Sunday for the closing ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The ceremony took place early Sunday morning in U.S. time, but will be broadcast during primetime on NBC.

Before the Olympics began, Oh Jang-hwan, Director of Ceremonies for the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee, described what the closing ceremony would be like, saying, “The theme for the Closing Ceremony is “Next Wave”. It will have a festival atmosphere to recognise and celebrate the athletes’ hard work and achievements at the Games. We have created a show that looks towards the future; it includes quite a lot of traditional Korean humour and fun elements to add to the party feel.”
