After sharing a stunning Instagram snap, one fan commented, “Can’t wait to see what you’ll be wearing on Oscar night.”
Zegler replied, “I’m not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”
“No? Even with a nominated movie?” another asked.
“Why aren’t you invited….so not fair,” another commented.
Zegler replied, “idk y’all i have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening :’) i will root for west side story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago. i hope some last minute miracle occurs and i can celebrate our film in person but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, i guess. thanks for all the shock and outrage— i’m disappointed, too. but that’s okay. so proud of our movie. ❤️”
Rachel Zegler Tries To Calm Outraged Fans On Twitter
my goodness, folks!! appreciate all the support, i really really do. we live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. that goes for film productions (like the one I am so lucky to be currently shooting in london)…

On Sunday, Zegler took to Twitter to try to pacify her fans who demanded to know why she was denied a seat at the table.
“my goodness, folks!! appreciate all the support, i really really do,” she began. “we live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. that goes for film productions (like the one I am so lucky to be currently shooting in london)…”
“…and awards shows alike. let’s all just respect the process and i’ll get off my phone x R,” she concluded.
It was surprising to hear that Zegler wouldn't be at the Oscars, considering that she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her role in “West Side Story”, was the first actress of Columbian descent to win the award. She was also the youngest recipient to ever win the award at 20 years old.
However, it seems that all of that fat outrage might have been worth it, as, by Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that she had earned a slot at the Oscars as a presenter.
Rachel Zegler Will Fly In From London To Appear At The Oscars
On Tuesday, THR revealed that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had asked the up-and-coming actress to be a presenter during Sunday’s ceremony.
Although Zegler is currently in London shooting Disney’s live-action adaption of “Snow White,” producers are currently working on rearranging the movie’s packed movie schedule to allow Zegler to appear at the Oscars.
Each nominee and presenter are offered a pair of tickets and each studio gets a certain number of tickets to give out, but fewer tickets were given out this year due to COVID-19 precautions, which might be one of the reasons the leading lady didn’t earn a seat at the table. However, many fans still feel that the star of a Best Picture nominee should be featured in the award show in some capacity.
The 2022 Academy Award nominees for Best Picture are “Drive My Car,” “Nightmare Alley,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Dune,” “Belfast,” “Licorice Pizza,” “The Power of the Dog,” “West Side Story,” “King Richard,” and “CODA.” Both “CODA” and “The Power of the Dog” are considered the frontrunners in the Oscar race.
