Actress Mayim Bialik has become the target of a hoax for some time now.

The neuroscientist has become a victim of false advertising, with a site claiming to be Fox News claiming that she is pedaling CBD gummies that are also a cure for dementia.

Although the former “The Big Bang Theory” star does not promote any line of CBD gummies, she has remained quiet about the hoax until Monday afternoon, when she finally addressed it on Instagram.

Mayim Bialik Says She Has Tried To Remove False Advertising ‘To No Avail’

On Monday, the current “Jeopardy!” host took to Instagram to describe the “awkward” experience of being used to promote CBD gummies.

“Hi everyone,” she began. “So… awkward: there are many untrue things floating around the internet about many public figures, but I want to address one about me that looks very authentic but is indeed a hoax.”

“I am not selling CBD Gummies of any kind and do not plan to do so at nay point in the future,” she added. “I have tried to get this removed to no avail. It’s not real.”

Although some fans thought that it was funny, others commented that the damage had already been done.

“My mother will be very relieved to see this as she didn’t believe me when I told her it’s not true!! 💛” one fan wrote.

“Whew. I saw it and I was like, ‘that doesn’t sound right,’” another added. “Thanks!”

“I’ve seen so many ads with your face lately,” another noted. “The most comical had a whole bunch of Christian bible quotes.”

It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact origin of the hoax, but one website based out of the U.K. claims to be from Fox News and has a headline that reads “Mayim Bialik reverses dementia solution sparks huge lawsuit pressure on Fox, she finally fights back on air.”

The “article” reads like an advertisement and links to Mayim’s alleged “FunDrops CBD Gummies” which are said to reduce pain and chronic aches, relieve anxiety and stress, enhance focus and clarity, promote healthy sleep, and not show up on a drug test. The gummies are said to be backed by Yahoo! Finance, MarketWatch, OK! Magazine, and USA Today.

The top of the article alleges that Martha MacCallum will be filing a lawsuit against Bialik for violating her contract and scaring off timeslot. The article in itself is confusing because it makes it sound like Mayim has a time slot on the Fox News network. Mayim does appear on Fox, but it’s in a sitcom called “Call Me Kat” as the owner of a cat café – not a CBD gummy line.

The article alleges that Maiym said:

“I know Martha is just coming after my timeslot. I am not giving in to 'Cancel Culture'. When I started this whole thing back in 2018, it really was just a part time passion project and a way for me to give back. After being given so much, I figured there was no better time to make FunDrops CBD Gummies available to everyone, as it can help thousands of people experience life pain-free and live much happier lives.”

They also allege that infamous Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson defended Mayim Bialik. The website claims that he said:

“FunDrops CBD Gummies has completely changed my life and it's clear that MacCallum is attempting a Coup. Users of FunDrops CBD Gummies are experiencing results that before now were only possible through prescription medication. It’s obviously a much cheaper, and safer alternative and because of that pharmaceutical companies are finding it harder to keep patients using their prescriptions.”

The article also includes several images of brain scans and claims that Bialik invented a formula that “can reverse Dementia instantly & for good.”

As much as people would like that to be true, there is currently no cure for dementia and there is unlikely to be one, as dementia is caused by several different diseases. Researchers are currently hard at work finding cures for dementia-causing diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies, but – sad to say – there is no way to cure dementia by popping a CBD gummy.
