While it is unfortunate that we are still in a world where Black firsts are still a thing, it's great to see diversity and inclusion in some of our favorite programming we watched as children. Before Fite joined the cast and booked the role of Aiyon, who serves as the first African American Gold Power.

The actor told The Blast how he was "nervous" entering the Power Ranger family as it was a "very serious" role for him and didn't realize how impactful being the first African American Gold Power Ranger was until now.

"Entering the Power Ranger family — I was very nervous as the fans were very serious and I needed to come in very serious as well," he shared with us.

"As far as being the first African American Gold Ranger, I didn't see it as a big deal at first until I was revealed in April 9th. I didn't think being the first would be such a big deal, but to see how the fans received me and how the Ranger family reacted, I saw how serious it was. It's already opened doors in my hometown [of Houston] getting recognized by big names and I hope it continues to open more doors. I'm just very thankful."

"I love Rangers as a kid, but I don't remember particularly which series I love," he shared.

"I just knew it came on television and some roundhouse kicks were coming on television. Before I booked the show and went through the audition process after years of not watching, I would say Beast Morphers stood out to me because it was the franchise before mine. I would also say Mighty Morphin and Ninja Steel. And if I had to bring back any alum, I would go with Jason or Tommy from Mighty Morphin. You got to mix the old with the new."

You can watch the full interview below and catch the first half of the second season now on Netflix.
